  • This show is airing on Tuesday, but we're taping it on Monday.

  • We all woke up this morning to the news

  • of the horrific shooting in Las Vegas.

  • My heart is broken for everyone affected

  • by what happened there.

  • I mean, we were just in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.

  • When you think of Las Vegas, it's

  • a place to escape and have fun.

  • You never imagine anything like this could ever happen.

  • There is so much going on in the world right now.

  • People are recovering from hurricanes,

  • the devastation in Puerto Rico.

  • On top of that, something like this happens.

  • I don't know about you, but I feel sad.

  • I feel anxious.

  • I feel helpless.

  • It's very easy to lose hope, but we cannot do that.

  • We cannot do that.

  • I always say there is a lot more good in the world

  • than there is bad.

  • I continue to believe that.

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • That is what we have to focus on.

  • I see it everywhere.

  • Look in Las Vegas, and people were helping each other.

  • People lined up at 4:30 in the morning just to donate blood.

  • It is hard to do a show on a day like this.

  • When I wake up today, I think, how am I going to do a show?

  • But it's also days like this that I appreciate my job

  • more than ever.

  • Because I get to focus and shine a light on people

  • that do good in the world.

  • If you need a reminder of all the people

  • out there that we have shown you that do good,

  • here are just a few of the people who have inspired me.

  • It was a pretty normal shift.

  • I was supposed to be done at 4:00 in the morning.

  • In walked two firefighters.

  • I knew that they had had a heck of a night.

  • I actually made the decision to pay for their check.

  • Liz, you work nights, right, so that you

  • can stay home and care for your dad during the day.

  • Yes.

  • You paid it forward.

  • I would like to pay it forward to you right now,

  • and give you a check for $20,000.

  • Tell people what you're doing.

  • OK, well Ability app will be a free app or website

  • that will help people with disabilities

  • navigate public spaces.

  • Yes, I'm developing an app that will help people

  • with disabilities.

  • This is incredible.

  • It was incredible meeting you, thank you.

  • 10 million of you have seen our next guest's simple act

  • of kindness.

  • She stepped in when two people were

  • being screamed at on a subway, because a woman thought

  • they were Muslim.

  • [SPEAKING SPANISH]

  • You should never feel bad about your religion, or your race,

  • or your color of your skin, never.

  • That's who you are, and you should let that be OK.

  • A school bus driver was on her final route of the day

  • when the bus she was driving suddenly caught fire.

  • Amazingly, she was able to get all 20 children off of the bus

  • to safety.

  • Everybody owes you.

  • I mean, like you said, they're your babies.

  • Exactly.

  • How old were these kids?

  • From age four to 10.

  • Wow.

  • Yes, age four to 10.

  • The parents were just so happy, and thanking me,

  • and hugging me.

  • And I'm just like, it's my job.

  • They're my babies until I give them back to you.

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • After being named homecoming king at his high school

  • football game, our next guest decided

  • that his friend with cerebral palsy

  • was more deserving of the title.

  • Why did you decide to do that?

  • Well, I think people are getting it mixed up, thinking

  • that I gave him the crown because he has CP,

  • but in fact that's not it at all.

  • I don't see K.L. As a disabled person.

  • I see him as a great human being.

  • We started walking the kids home from school,

  • because we just saw a need that needed to be filled.

  • Every day, there are about 200 students

  • walking a mile, two miles back and forth to school.

  • We thought, let's ask if teachers would

  • volunteer to walk with them.

  • I want you to tell me a little bit about your book program

  • during the summer.

  • We go every week and we visit all of our babies

  • in their neighborhoods.

  • We bought you a bookmobile.

  • [SCREAMING]

  • I went to pick up my wife and daughter from the airport.

  • We were a little early, so we went and had something to eat.

  • I left my wallet on the table, and thought

  • I'm never going to get it back.

  • I'm never going to see it again.

  • And I get this letter from this young boy,

  • and he's found my wallet.

  • I know that you've been struggling.

  • You've been saving up for college.

  • So I wanted to give you your own wallet and $10,000.

  • There was an accident.

  • A car hit a motorcycle.

  • A motorcyclist was underneath the car.

  • All of these strangers got together, lifted the car.

  • This is really the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

  • He's alive because of all of you.

  • I like Ellen.

  • We've had nine open heart surgeries and heart surgeries

  • together.

  • Hi Tayt!

  • It's your girlfriend, Ellen.

  • I'll tell you something, Tayt.

  • You're my only boyfriend.

  • What was the response of being on the show?

  • We service a very high-needs population.

  • We have a lot of homeless children here.

  • You help pay rent.

  • You help pay bills.

  • You get free doctors appointments.

  • You get the food for the families.

  • I want more people to know about you,

  • and hope that you inspire other teachers and principals

  • out there.

  • And we want to give you and Whitney Elementary

  • School $100,000.

  • Oh my gosh!

  • Hi, my name is Brian.

  • I'm 30 years old, and I was recently paralyzed.

  • In the weeks after Brian's injury,

  • I go to the Saints' last open practice.

  • And I see this picture of Drew Brees,

  • with his arm around a cardboard cut-out of me.

  • To see it lifted my spirits, and boosted my morale

  • is an understatement.

  • Brian and Jackson, whenever you guys get the chance,

  • we would love to host you down here

  • in New Orleans to a football game,

  • bring you over to the facility, have you come to a practice.

  • [CHEERING]

  • But whenever you want!

  • They're the kind of people we can all learn from.

  • They're educators from Brooklyn, New York.

  • And it is one of Brooklyn's most underserved communities.

  • No matter what is happening at home, no matter what we've gone

  • through, they never give up.

  • We've never, never done anything this big before.

  • We reached out to the people at Wal-Mart.

  • They want to give each one of you a four-year scholarship.

  • I'll shout it out like a bird set free.

  • The world is full of amazing people.

  • Good will always win.

  • Love will always win.

  • on those people on our show.
