I was born in Hong Kong, and I immigrated to North America.

Couldn't speak a word of English.

ひと言も英語は話せませんでした。

English is not my first language.

英語は私の第一言語ではありません。

In fact, it's not even my second language.

実は、第二言語ですらないんです。

It is my third language.

英語は私にとって第三言語なんです。

So growing up, I didn't speak a word of English, but because I invested the time and the effort to understand and master languaging, communication, sales, being able to communicate, speak with conviction and certainty.

だから、子どもの頃は英語をひと言も話せませんでした。でも、私は努力を惜しまなかったんです。一生懸命、ランゲージングやコミュニケーション、セールスなどを理解・習得しました。そのおかげで、英語でコミュニケーションを取ることや、信念と確信をもって話すことができるようになり、私の人生は変わったんです。今私は、ソーシャルメディアでものすごくたくさんのフォロワーを持つまでになりました。

That has changed my life, and now, of course, I have a massive following on social media.

それによって私の人生は大きく変わりました。私のSNSにはたくさんのフォロワー数がいます。

I have been interviewed hundreds of times on media and podcasts.

これまで、メディアやポッドキャストで何百回とインタビューを受けています。

I've written a dozen books, simply because of one simple thing that I did, because I have mastered the skill, the language of English.

So, today, I'm going to share with you a simple trick that will help you get fluent with English, and I already know what is going to happen.

They believe they are helping people by summarizing the lesson.

そういう人たちは、それが人助けだと思っているんです。学びを要約することでね。

What they're actually doing is they are robbing people of the opportunity to learn, to grow, that you cannot do the push up for them.

でも実際にやっているのは、他の人が学んで、成長する機会を奪っているんです。学ぼうとしている人のためにはならないのに。

No different than, imagine if you have a movie that you've always wanted to watch, and you can't wait to get the tickets, and then your friend told you the ending of the movie.

同じことが言えるのは…、例えば、ずっと観たいと思っている映画を思い浮かべてください。チケットを買うのも待ちきれないくらいです。するとそこで、友人にその映画の結末を言われてしまうんです。

Ruined the entire experience for you.

すべてぶち壊しですよね。

So, when you are summarizing the lessons for people in the comment, you're not helping people.

ですから、(この動画での)学びをコメント欄で要約するのは、人助けにはなっていません。

You're actually doing them a disservice.

実際は、迷惑をかけているんです。

So, here's the formula.

では、英語習得の方法をお教えします。

I call that the 1-3-1 Formula Of Language Mastery.

私は、英語習得の１-3-1の公式と呼んでいます。

One, three, one: here's how it works.

１-３-１。その内容はこうです。

First, you pick a speaker that you like.

まず、自分の好きな英語話者を選びます。

You pick someone that you want to learn from, you want to emulate.

この人から学びたい、この人をお手本にしたいという人を選ぶんです。

You like the way they speak, you like their tonality.

その人の話し方が好きだとか、声の感じが好きだとか。

You like how they modulate their voice, right?

その人の発声の感じが好きだとか、ね？

You like how they project.

声の響かせ方が好きだとか。

Whoever that person might be, you pick that one person.

誰でも構わないので、一人選んでください。

What you do is this, you pick one line that person says.

そして、やってみてほしいのは、その人が話した言葉をワンフレーズ選ぶんです。

Now, that could be through a video, that could be through a podcast, or even an audio book, doesn't matter.

動画からでもいいし、ポッドキャストとかオーディオブックでも、何でも構いません。

So, you listen to that one line, and then you pause.

そして、そのフレーズを聞いて、一時停止します。

You practice three times with your own voice.

それから、それを3回、声に出して言います。

Then, you listen to the next line, one line, pause, repeat three times.

それができたら今度は次の言葉を聞きます。ワンフレーズを聞いて、一時停止。3回繰り返して声に出して言う。

You do that one hour per day.

これを毎日、1時間やってください。

That's it, it is that simple, one, three, one.

それだけです。すごくシンプルです。１-３-１です。

When you practice this one simple trick, what it does, it leaves a footprint in your subconscious mind.

このシンプルな方法で何が起こるかというと、潜在意識に何らかの痕跡として残るんです。

It is that simple.

いたってシンプル。

One line, repeat three times, one hour a day, but I know 99 percent of the people watching this video, they are not going to do it.

1つのフレーズを選んで、3回繰り返して声に出して、1日に1回。でも、この動画を観ている人の99％は実践しないでしょう。

They're not going to invest one hour every day to master a language.

毎日1時間を費やしてまで言語を習得しようとはしないでしょう。

They're not going to invest one hour every day to be a more confident English speaker.

毎日1時間を費やしてまで、自信を持って英語を話せるようになろうとはしないでしょう。

They're not going to invest one hour every day to stand out in the marketplace, so people pay attention and hang on every single word that comes out of their mouth.

毎日1時間費やしてまで、ビジネスで成功して、注目を浴び、話すことすべてに注意深く耳を傾けられるようになろうとはしないでしょう。

As I always say, the distance between you and everything you ever want is your words, what you say to yourself, and how you communicate to others, so choose your words wisely.

いつも私は言っているんですが、自分と手に入れたいと思うものを隔てているのは、言葉です。自分に向かって発する言葉。そして周囲の人とのコミュニケーションの取り方です。ですから、言葉は賢く選びましょう。
