I'm Gabe Garza with your latest health news. A new study from Greece found that leukotriene-receptor antagonists, or LTRAs, may significantly improve asthma control and effectively prevent asthma attacks in adults and teens. Study authors stated that LTRAs improved asthma control compared to placebo, but which patients are most likely to respond to treatment with LTRAs remains unclear. Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways, which affects an estimated 300 million people worldwide. Researchers looked at 34 previous studies on LTRAs which were found to reduce the risk of asthma attacks by 40 percent. Make sure to speak with your doctor about all your treatment options if you have asthma.
