I thought it was good. They all looked pretty great. Mostly. Most of them. They did a good job in re-creating Bayside, and the fact that they were able to get so many people together under the same roof, at the same time, that's impressive. (Finebros) So these two videos we showed you came out in the same week. Combined, it had over 60 million views on YouTube during that time. Holy [bleep]. (Finebros) What is it that makes these videos that are clips from a TV show do those kinds of numbers on YouTube? Oh, celebrities. People like seeing celebrities do stuff that's not normal, that celebrities won't do 'cause they're like, "I'm a celebrity. This is beneath me." You have the super pool of celebrity, you have the super pool of nostalgia, and I see how that's appealing to a lot of people. Is it exciting or thought-provoking content? No! Us YouTubers have been doing this stuff for so long. (Finebros) How do you feel, as a creator, when you put out a video and then you might be on a list on YouTube somewhere, but you're being beaten out by Fallen, or Kimmel, or Ellen, compared to how you feel if you're being beaten out by a fellow YouTube creator. Honestly, it's happened to me. All the time. You know, I put out a new video and I'm like, "Damn! I would've been number one." To me, it's kind of the same thing. It's like Vevo being a part of YouTube. Obviously, the top 100 YouTubers includes tons of Vevo accounts. I mean, it's fair game. Everybody can make a YouTube account. Why not Jimmy Fallon? There's a little part, I think as a YouTuber, where it's like, "Hey, this is our space." You know? We were the ones that were here to build this space. Now it's like, "Oh, the TV people are coming in." The silver lining of that is that it shows you how powerful YouTube and this medium is now. (Finebros) Do you think that when they go viral on YouTube it brings viewership back to their television show? Not so. I think it hits a new audience, people that don't really watch television. Young kids who have access to iPads, but not really the remote control for television. I don't even know what channel that's on or time it's on. I've seen a lot of these clips. I've laughed at a good many, but has it ever inspired me to go watch The Tonight Show? No! (Finebros) Due to what Fallon and the other talk shows have done, they are talked about in the media a lot as innovators in new media, and they even are involved in things like YouTube Rewind. They put all the talk show hosts in there. Do you feel they deserved to be considered part of the innovation of new media? Uh, no. No, I think that in their media, they should be like, "I can't believe we didn't do this before." It's a natural progression. It makes sense that you would do it, but is it super innovative? I think it's just the way things are going. I want to say that they're innovating, but more so they're keeping up. They know that if they didn't, then they would be left behind. (Finebros) What's your prediction for the future of how television programs will utilize YouTube to evolve their entertainment? Do you think there's more coming? Absolutely. Yeah, the future of YouTube's gonna become even more corporate, in my opinion. YouTube is becoming the new television. TV's on its way out, you know, as far as cable and stuff like that. It'd be kind of silly for them to not use this as a footing to get in there and make content on the web that's not on TV. ♪ (dramatic chord) ♪
