Not only does Billy not remember how to quadratic equation, he doesn't remember what his homework is. This make Billy's mother crazy because she has no way to help Billy or even know what he has been assigned.Luckily, she knows the next door neighbor Johnny is also in algebra so she makes a phone call... Johnny has a different math teacher than Billy. Johnny's teacher uses Schoology. It's very easy for Johnny's mother to log in with her parent portal and see exactly what Johnny's homework is for the night. Also, Johnny's teacher has found a Youtube video that explains how to solve a quadratic equation and has embedded that video in the Schoology assignment so Johnny can remember how to do the assignment. There is also a small quiz that Johnny can take to see if he's on the right track. let's Johnny (and his teacher) know how he's doing... The next day at school, Billy tells his teacher about his experience at Johnny's house. Billy's teacher is intrigued and goes to talk to Johnny's teacher. Johnny's teacher is happy to show Billy's teacher how to log on to Schoology, and even offers to share resources. In the following months, Billy's teacher starts to put all of his assignments on Schoology and starts to realize he can track the progress of his students, communicate directly with parents, align his tasks directly to common core standards, and much, much more. Billy's teacher is happy because his professional life just got easier, and he is now sharing his resources with others to make their lives easier. (crowd: YEA!) And that feels good!
