Why do a live action of One Piece?

なぜワンピースの実写を？

(Speaking Japanese) Back then, 26 years ago when I started One Piece,

昔は、ワンピースを始めた26年前は、

it wasn't possible t padapt a manga like this into live action.

とても、こんな漫画が映像化できる時代ではなかったんですよね。

But, at a certain point in time, the quality of CG and VFX really started to improve, and you could bring anything to life.

だけど、ある時から、CGだのVFXだの、本当に技術が上がってきて、何でも映像化できるようになってきた。

After seeing many such things, I decided to take the plunge, figuring that if we find a reliable team, we could pull this off and adapt it into live action.

だから、そういうものをたくさん見たから、これならまあ、本当に、信頼できるスタッフさえ見つければ、何とか映像化できるかなと思って踏み切ったという感じです。

My biggest worry about the live action was whether we could be able to find someone like Luffy.

でも本当に、実写化で一番心配だったのは、ルフィみたいな人間が見つかるのかという話なんです。

But I was watching various audition tapes, and when I saw you, I kind of started laughing.

だから、いろんなオーディションの動画をたくさん見てて、イニャキ君を見たときに、ちょっと笑っちゃったんですよね。

I intuitively thought, "That's Luffy."

I feel like this role was meant to be, and I want to play Luffy for a very long time.

この役は運命だと思うし、これからも長くルフィを演じたい。
