You have probably heard native English speakers say things like, I'm going to school.

英語のネイティブスピーカーが、I'm going to schoolのようなことを言っているのを聞いたことがあるのではないでしょうか。

But why don't they say I'm going to home?

でも、なんで家に帰るって言われないんだろう？

The answer has to do with the verb.

答えは動詞に関係しています。

Here Home acts as an adverb, not a noun.

ここではHomeは名詞ではなく副詞として機能します。

After the verb go and before some adverbs of place, we omit the Prepa Szish in two.

動詞goの後、場所のいくつかの副詞の前に、我々は2つのPrepa Szishを省略します。

The words downstairs and upstairs are other examples.

downstairsやupstairsという言葉が他にもあります。

They describe locations inside Ah, home or building.
