I'm in Medellin, my hometown. -Medellin. -Yeah, yeah. -I also saw that you did something crazy. You gave out your number on Instagram. What has happened to you, and what crazy messages have you gotten from it? -Bro, I was looking for things to do. [ Both laugh ] I'm just kidding. The thing is that, I was feeling that I really needed to be more connected with my fans, you know, because I had to postpone my tour. I was in Europe, I was in Greece, when all these crazy things happened. So I had to postpone like 14 concerts. So, I felt like -- I don't know. I didn't want my fans to feel disappointed with me, you know, even knowing the whole situation. So I really wanted to talk directly with them, even knowing that they were gonna send me thousands and thousands of messages, you know? But I just felt like I really needed to be connected to them, so that's why I actually gave my phone number. It exploded like two hours later. -[ Laughs ] Was it, like, on fire? Was it hot when you held your phone? -[ Blowing ] Like... Yeah, yeah, but it was a good experience actually. -Hey, besides both being in the next J.Lo movie, me and you... -Yeah. -...we also have another thing in common. We were both Calvin Klein models. -Well, Jimmy, I can't believe that. You're -- I mean, you're like another level of beautiness to be in Calvin Klein. Like, you're another level, man. Crazy. -Yeah, they had to get a special lens for me, is what they said. -Yeah. [ Both laugh ] -When you see our photos next to each other, you're really gonna laugh. -[ Laughs ] -Wait till you see it. -You know -- wait, wait. As soon as we finish here, you know what's gonna be the first thing that I'm gonna do? I am going straight to Google. [ Both laugh ] And I want to post one of your Calvin Klein pictures on my Instagram. Do you mind? -No, man, I'll post yours. Wait till you see the difference. You won't even -- You'll start laughing. 'Cause what is your -- Do you remember what face you were making in yours? -It was like... -Oh, that's pretty good. -And let me see yours. -Mine was like this. -[ Laughing ] -Like, there's an explosion behind me. Let's talk some music. "Que Chimba" was the last one you put out, but it was, like, kind of came out because -- not for the right reason, right? It just kind of blew up? -That was crazy, man. Like, a day before, I had to fly to Europe to start the tour. There is a guy that works here in the radio stations here in Columbia -- right? -- and this guy called me. And he was like, "Juan Luis, do you know what guaracha is? And I was like, "Guaracha? What is guaracha? I have no idea." And he told me that was drumming, and I was like, "I don't know, bro." And then, he showed me one of the biggest songs of 2019, and it was a guaracha song that was called "Baila Conmigo." And I was like, "Okay, let's work on it." I came to the studio. This is my studio inside my house. This is where I make all my music and a lot of projects. So I came here. I called one of the engineers, and it was like, "Bro, I want to do this guaracha song, this kind of genre, but I want to start talking with my own slang." Like the Colombian, Medellin slang. So that's why the song is called "Que Chimba." It means, like, "That's cool," you know? And then, I did the song, I went on tour, and suddenly, I had this chat group with the producers and the people that was around the song, and they were like, "Juan Luis, look at this video," and they sent me a video for a club here in Colombia, and they were playing the song all around the clubs here in Medellin, and I was like, "Who put the song out? Who released the song?" Because I didn't have a plan for it. -Yeah. -And then, as soon as we finished the tour, we released the song, saying that we were taking the Columbian slang or the Colombian culture, around the world. -Oh, that's fantastic. And I will say, the new song -- "El Amor de mi Vida" -- is that right? -Your Spanish is getting so good, Jimmy, wow. -"El Amor de mi Vida," which means "The Love of My Life," right? -Yeah, yeah. -I am getting very good, right? -[ Laughs ] -I -- Thank you. I was going to try to impress you over remembering where you live again. Hold on, if I can remember it. Medellin. -Medellin, yeah. Medellin, Colombia. Amor de mi vida. Jimmy, como estas? -Uh... Oh, wait. Bien, gracias. -Y tu? Gracias. Okay, another one. [ Laughs ] -Dude, this video, by the way, I love this video, I love this song. It's beautiful, but we get to see you as an old, old man. -That was crazy. -Was it weird to play that? It was romantic, it was so beautiful. I loved it. How long did it take you to put that makeup on? -It was shocking, actually, like, seeing myself, because when they started the makeup, I was 26 years old, You know? And when they finished, I was like 85 or 90 years old. And I didn't see the process, you know? Like, during the process, the makeup. I couldn't see myself in the mirror. So it was very shocking when I opened my eyes again and I saw myself after five hours, I was this old, old Maluma, and I was looking so alike as my grandfather, my mom's dad, and I was like, "Wow, this is crazy." The people that they did the makeup, they were insane. And so, yeah, it was a very beautiful, beautiful project. I had this idea. I wanted to connect with people in that way, and, you know, that sometimes, in this crazy industry, we just forget about yourself and about your personal plans and what you want to do in your life, because, bro, I am single now, and I also want to think about the love of my life. You know, I want to get old one day with someone next to me, and that's why I really wanted to do this project, you know? -Everyone who's been coming on the show, we asked them if they have a charity or something they want to spotlight, even if it's something they haven't worked with before, but something they want to highlight just so -- 'Cause there's so much help that -- People need so much help right now. And I think this is great. What you came with is El Arte de los Suenos? No. -Yeah. -Is that right? -Your Spanish, bro, wow. -I got a whole new market. I should move to Colombia. This is unbelievable. -See, if I move to Columbia, I couldn't dress like you, though. I would have to -- I would have to button a majority of those buttons. -[ Laughs ] -No. No, this is the vibe. This is the vibe here in Colombia. -No, no. And then I gotta put a sweater over that in Colombia. -[ Laughs ] No, no, no, no, no. -[ Laughs ] -No, no, no, no, no. -Well, man, I want to inspire you for the next song. I gotta think of what you should do. The next song is about waking up -- waking up with someone or -- no. Falling asleep with someone. -[ Laughs ] -This is how good we are. See? We should write songs together. Waking up, staying up -- Staying up just to fall asleep with you. -[ Laughs ] -A whole new song. -Going to straight. -Maluma, I love you, man. I can't wait to see you again because you are my favorite. And thank you so much for coming on the show. It really means a lot to us, so thank you. -Thank you, man. -Stay safe, family safe, everybody.
