Today I'm here talking about the procedures involved in joining the Marines. First and foremost, you must be a senior or possess a high school diploma. A GED is not acceptable in the Marine Corps. The next step is to pass the ASVAB, the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery Test. A 31 is a minimum score. From there, you must get in contact with your local Marine Corps recruiter. He will then set you up and you and your recruiter will then go over the different types of jobs and the different types of things you want to get out of the Marine Corps. From there your recruiter will set you up with the physical. If you pass the physical, and are determined to be mentally and physically qualified to be a Marine, you will be offered a contract. The contracts vary from four to six years. Once you've signed your contract you will get a boot camp date. This is the day that you will be leaving to boot camp. It is you and your recruiter's job to get you physically and mentally ready for the rigors of basic training. If you are interested in finding out more about how to become a United States Marine, please give me a call at 801-967-9815 or visit the website at www.marines.com.
