  • Hello, I'm Staff Sergeant Montgomery with United States Marine Corps recruiting office

  • here in West Valley City, Utah. Today I'm here talking about the procedures involved

  • in joining the Marines. First and foremost, you must be a senior or possess a high school

  • diploma. A GED is not acceptable in the Marine Corps. The next step is to pass the ASVAB,

  • the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery Test. A 31 is a minimum score. From there,

  • you must get in contact with your local Marine Corps recruiter. He will then set you up and

  • you and your recruiter will then go over the different types of jobs and the different

  • types of things you want to get out of the Marine Corps. From there your recruiter will

  • set you up with the physical. If you pass the physical, and are determined to be mentally

  • and physically qualified to be a Marine, you will be offered a contract. The contracts

  • vary from four to six years. Once you've signed your contract you will get a boot camp date.

  • This is the day that you will be leaving to boot camp. It is you and your recruiter's

  • job to get you physically and mentally ready for the rigors of basic training. If you are

  • interested in finding out more about how to become a United States Marine, please give
