Growing up, almost everyone’s heard of the concept ‘IQ’. And most people associate it with intelligence. But did you know that intelligence and IQ are actually not the same thing? Our video today looks at the history of IQ, from its origins to how it’s perceived in the present day. Here’s a thought-provoking idea in our sentence of the day:

Sentence:
So if you come from a community where there's a lot of argument, where you're encouraged to read, where you're encouraged to discuss things, on average it's likely that that community will have higher IQs.

When native speakers say this phrase, they don’t say it as three separate words. To sound more natural, try and push these words together and say them like a single word, ‘alotof’.

Longer words ending with -age will have an unstressed A, and will rhyme with ‘bridge’.
