A lot of you have been asking me to do a video about phrasal verbs.

多くの方から、句動詞についてのビデオを撮ってほしいと頼まれました。

So I thought I would do one today where I try to teach you 50 phrasal verbs and I'm gonna try and act them all out, because I think that will make it a whole lot more enjoyable.

そこで今日は、50 の句動詞を教えましょう。動作のイメージを演じながら動詞を紹介していきたいと思います。その方がもっと楽しめると思いますから。

Let's get started.

では、始めましょう。

So I'm just gonna walk by the camera to get started.

カメラの横を通って始めます。

I'm going to act out the phrasal verbs.

句動詞を演じます。

So that was "walk by" and you saw the word appear over here as I was doing it.

あれは「walk by」でした。私がやっているときに、この単語がこっちに出てきたのを見たでしょう。

So let's do over 50 more in this English lesson.

では、この英語のレッスンであと50以上の句動詞を勉強しましょう。

So when you see something like a bench or chair, you can sit down.

ベンチや椅子を見たら座ればいいんです。

And after you have done that for a while you can of course stand up.

しばらくそうしていれば、もちろん立ち上がることができます。

So sit down and stand up.

座って、立って。

Sometimes when I'm walking along, I trip and I fall down.

歩いてると、時々つまづいて転ぶんです。

So behind me here you see a ladder.

後ろにハシゴが見えるでしょう？

You can climb up a ladder.

梯子を登れます。

You can also climb down a ladder.

ハシゴを降りることもできます。

You can also go up a ladder, and then you can go down a ladder as well.

梯子を上って、梯子を下りることもできます。

So it's a little bit sunny today and I thought maybe I should put on a hat,

今日はちょっと晴れてるから、帽子でもかぶろうかな。

but then when I came outside it was a little cloudy so I thought that I would take off my hat.

でも外に出たら少し曇っていたから、帽子を取ろうと思ったんです。

So when we talk about vehicles, we usually get in a vehicle.

だから、乗り物といえば、普通は車に乗ります。

So I'm going to get in my van.

バンに乗るんです。

If I was done driving my van, I would get out of my van.

運転が終わったらバンを降ります。

There's also a couple of slang ways to talk about this, or less common ways, and that's to jump in.

また、この言い方にはいくつかの俗語があり、あまり一般的ではない言い方もあるが、それは「 jump in」（飛び込む）です

I can jump in my van.

バンに飛び乗ります。

And then when I'm done driving, I can jump out again.

運転が終わったらまた飛び出せるんです。

I don't jump in or jump out a lot because I'm getting a little bit old.

少し年をとるから飛び乗ったり飛び出したりすることはあまりしません。

So even though we use get in and get out to talk about vehicles, we don't use it for airplanes, ships, and trains.

だから、乗り物の話には get in や get out を使うけど、飛行機や船、電車の話には使いません。

When we go on an airplane we say, "Get on the airplane.", and when we leave the airplane we say, "Get off."

飛行機に乗る時は 「Get on the airplane. 」と言い、飛行機を降りる時は 「Get off. 」と言います。

We also do the same for trains.

電車でも同じです。

You get on a train, and you get off of a train.

電車に乗ります。電車を降ります。

So once you're in a vehicle you'll often drive away, which means to leave.

だから乗り物に乗ったら車で移動することが多い、つまり離れるということです。

And then when you return, you usually drive in.

そして戻ってきたら、通常は車で乗り付けます。

Sometimes when you're driving, you'll run over something.

運転してると時々何かにぶつかるんです。

Oops! I accidentally ran over something.

おっと！うっかり轢いちゃいました。

If you think I'm too close to you, you might want me to back away.

近すぎると思ったら、離れてほしいかもしれません。

So my truck is getting old, and it's starting to fall apart.

トラックも古くなってきたしな、ボロボロになり始めているんです。

You can see all this rust here.

錆びだらけです。

It's all just falling apart.

ボロボロです。

When I'm standing here, if I turn around, I'm able to see the river.

ここに立ってる時、振り向けば川が見えます。

If I turn around again, I'm able to see you guys.

また振り向けばみなさんが見えます。

So you'll notice if I hold on to this pen, it stays right here, but if I let go, it falls down.

だから、このペンを握っていればここに留まるが、放せば下に落ちることに気づくでしょう。

I just picked it up.

拾いました。

If I let go of this bike, it will fall over.

手を離すと、倒れちゃいます。

Sorry bike!

Oh, look, a pen!

ほら、見て、ペンです！

So when you see something like this pen laying here, you can pick up the pen.

このペンのようなものがここに転がっているのを見つけたら、ペンを拾ってみるんでうs。

If you don't wanna keep it, you can put down the pen.

持っていたくなければ、ペンを置けばいいです。

You could pick up the pen and you could set down the pen.

ペンを取ることもできるし、ペンを置くこともできます。

A lot of times before I go out, I need to pick out which jacket I'm going to wear.

出かける前にジャケットを選ぶんです。

Should I pick out a grey one or should I pick out a blue one?

グレーにしましょうか、ブルーにしましょうか。

I know whenever I pick out a shirt, I usually pick a blue one.

シャツを選ぶ時は、いつも青を選びますよ。

Sometimes when you're talking to people and things aren't going well, you decide you just need to walk away.

人と話していて、物事がうまく進まないとき、ただ立ち去る必要があると判断することがあります。

And sometimes, it's nice to walk up to people so that you can talk to them.

それに、たまには人に歩み寄って話をするのもいいものですよ。

Sometimes when I'm sitting on the couch, watching a little bit of television, I fall asleep.

ソファに座ってテレビを少し見ていると、眠ってしまうことがあります。

Then a little while later, I wake up.

しばらくして目が覚めます。

Sometimes I decide that it's time to get up off the couch.

時々、ソファから起き上がることを決めます。

Sometimes when I'm outside, I like to point out things that I want people to look at.

外にいるとき、人に見てほしいものを指差すのが好きなんです。

If I point over there, you can see the river.

あそこを指差すと川が見えますよ。

In order for me to listen to the radio, I need to plug in this cord.

ラジオを聴くには、このコードをつなぐ必要があります。

And if I'm done listening to it, I can unplug it.

聴き終わったらプラグを抜くんです。

That's not a phrasal verb, but that's what it is anyways.

句動詞じゃないけど、とにかくそういうことです。

Unplug.

プラグを抜きます。

So I'm not sure how many verbs we've done, but I think it's time for me to just sit back and relax for a little bit.

いくつの動詞をやったかわからないけど、少し腰を落ち着けてリラックスする時間だと思います。

Ok, now I might just sit up and pay attention.

よし、そろそろ席を立って集中しようかな。

So I'm going to try and lift this cement block ten times.

このセメントブロックを10回持ち上げてみます。

So I'm going to get started, that means to begin.

「get started」、始めるという意味です。

I think I'm gonna give up now, that means to quit.

「give up」しようかな。それは「やめる」という意味です。

Sometimes my kids take out the milk and I get angry because they didn't put back the milk.

たまに子供が牛乳を出すんだけど、牛乳を戻さないから怒るんです。

If you leave the milk out, it gets warm, and eventually it starts to smell funny.

牛乳を出しっぱなしにしておくと、温かくなって、そのうち変な臭いがしてくるんです。

I always put back the milk.

いつも牛乳を戻すんです。

When you get home from the grocery store, you need to put away the groceries.

スーパーから帰ったら食料品をしまうんです。

It's nice to have all your groceries in the cupboard.

食器棚に食料品があるのはいいことです。

But when you're hungry, you need to get out the bread so that you can make a sandwich.

腹が減ったらパンを出して、サンドイッチを作るんです。

So I actually borrowed these keys from Jen.

実はこの鍵、ジェンから借りたんです。

When I go in the house, I'm going to give back the keys.

家に入ったら鍵を返しますよ。

I'm going to return them to her.

彼女に返します。

Every once in a while, I need to fill up my van with gas.

たまにガソリンを入れたくなるんです。

At night when it's dark, sometimes we have to turn on a light.

夜は暗いから、ライトを点けないとね。

When we go to bed, we turn off the light.

寝るときは電気を消します。

Sometimes I like to hang up pictures on my wall, but sometimes they get old and then I take down the picture and I put a new one in.

壁に絵を飾るのが好きなんだけど、古くなると絵を剥がして新しいのを飾るんです。

This is the volume button.

これは音量ボタンです。

I use this button to turn up the TV if I want it to be louder, and I use this button to turn down the TV if I want it to be quieter.

テレビを大きくしたいときはこのボタンで大きくし、静かにしたいときはこのボタンで小さくします。

Well, hey, it's time for the last one.
