  • >> Jonathan Hey guys it's Jonathan with The Positive

  • Pin and we are now at week number 45 of Project Positivity. It's a little bit loud,

  • we're outside we're doing "au-natural" and I am with a lady that I met at several

  • networking events and she always has an amazingly positive attitude. Toni McKnight

  • Adams. And I love that name, you sounds like you should be a movie star, like you

  • should be a performer "TONI MCKNIGHT ADAMS" when I hear it it always makes

  • me smile. So please accept this Positive Pin for your positive attitude and tell

  • our fans do you have any daily practices that you use to stay positive? I mean how

  • do you stay positive? When we see you at events you're always in a good mood.

  • >> Toni Aw thank you. What I do every morning

  • when I get up the first thing is I pray and give God the glory that I was able to wake

  • up and open my eyes for another blessing everyday and then look in the mirror, and

  • I tell myself that "Toni, today is your day". Do not let anyone else choose your attitude.

  • Smile, be happy, keep it moving. >> Jonathan

  • I like that. You know, one of the things as you guys probably know if you've been watching

  • the videos there seems to be a common thread of giving prayer, so I absolutely

  • believe when you give thanks for the gift of

  • life you live a more positive life. >> Toni

  • Yeah >> Jonathan

  • Do you have any stories that you were, you had

  • a challenge and you said you know what, I'm just going to think positive thoughts and

  • you came out of the other side with a, with a

  • victory? >> Toni

  • Yeah, my biggest challenge was trying to figuring out what career I wanted to be in. My mom

  • was a nurse, she worked a lot of hours and I told

  • myself, I don't want to be a nurse. So it was time

  • for me to choose a career and I chose nursing. Yeah,

  • so I said I''m going to control my career not let

  • my career control me, because you can always

  • go to any city any place and then you can get a

  • job. But I was fearful of wanting to be a nurse

  • because there's not always positive outcomes. But

  • I gave it my best shot and I did it for 21 years.

  • So after 3 years of bing a nurse I decided it was time

  • to start a family. So I had a child, and he's

  • here today, his name is Richard, and I was 22 years old,

  • and I had him and he was 6 months premature, he

  • was 2 pound 2 ounce baby. So I told myself, that

  • actually, my mom told me that God gives special people special things, and he is my gift from

  • God. And so my duty and my role is to take care

  • of him to the best of my ability, and it is what

  • it is, so we came out of that challenge and that is the

  • most positive thing I see. After I look in the

  • mirror in the morning and tell myself don't let others choose

  • your attitude, I look at my son Richard and he says

  • "good morning mom" >> Jonathan

  • He's smiling over there, he's smiling off camera

  • >>Toni Yes, and I say "good morning" Richard, he

  • says "how are you doing" and I say "fine" and he

  • says "good, me too, I love you" and that's every

  • day, non stop. And he is my PIC, my Parter In Crime.

  • Where I go, he goes, and it's almost like a bond.

  • So that is so wonderful, to take something that

  • could have turned out "oh I have a handicapped son

  • he's going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life

  • what am I going to do, I have to feed him every day,

  • I have to change his diapers, da da da" No, just look

  • at it like this is your child, this is something that came

  • from you and go out there and let him experience the

  • world. And other people see that. You think you have

  • problems? Nah, not at all, you're truly blessed. Richard

  • never complains, he doesn't know any different. >> Jonathan

  • He has a more active lifestyle than I do! He's out

  • having fun meeting beautiful ladies, so he's lucky.

  • >> Toni He builds relationships, that's the good thing.

  • That's what I tell my family and friends. And then the other

  • thing I see about Think Positive is God first, Family

  • second Career third. But you always have to take care of yourself.

  • But you also have to tell yourself "you know what, for

  • me to keep things positive, don't ever use anything ending with

  • an "NT" and what I mean by that is don't use the word

  • don't, won't, can't, shouldn't, wouldn't, couldn't, because

  • those are negative words and you're going to end up

  • with negative results. So those are similar things that

  • you need to do. Other ways that I feel, that I make myself

  • feel positive is to make myself smile, no matter what pain

  • my back may be in, no matter what may have happened, no

  • matter what financial situation you may be in or

  • job related you may be in, just make yourself smile, and if you

  • smile, people around you will smile, and it is contagious, believe

  • it or not. >> Jonathan

  • Oh I know, I listen to a lot of motivational stuff and the

  • guys on the tapes say "right now stop whatever you're doing and

  • just smile a big goofy grin and you will feel better, and it's

  • absolutely right. Just smile, while you're watching this

  • video smile, you'll feel better about your day.

  • >> Toni The other thing that I use in my life that

  • I can't go without is music. Music has no boundaries. Whether

  • it be country and western, R & B, rap, hip hop, jazz, tejano

  • or pop whatever, just blast it, turn it up and just

  • enjoy it, and take the words and just live by them.

  • >> Jonathan Music is universal, I love it.

  • >> Toni Yeah, I really do

  • >> Jonathan You were good, you were nervous that you weren't

  • going to have anything to tell our fans but this

  • is good. You really opened up and I love the saying that "God

  • will never give you more than you can handle".

  • >> Toni Yeah, you know with out economy today and

  • with how our world is today, look at somebody else, and

  • they have it worse and you look at yourself and you're like I'm

  • are blessed without money, without a nice home just live as basic

  • as possible. Just like I say, surround yourself with positive people,

  • and they say how do you do that? First of all go to places that

  • are happy. Think that you chose to be outside for this interview, because

  • I think outdoors and the environment has a lot to do with your

  • mood. >> Jonathan

  • Absolutely >> Toni

  • Yeah, so I like trees and I like the wind and the sun and the sounds

  • of the water and the lake and just thinking about that is so

  • rejuvenating. >> Jonathan

  • It's calming, and yea absolutely you feel like you're one with nature.

  • Hopefully it's not too windy in this video where you can hear us because

  • Toni is a little soft spoken, we'll have a transcript beneath it if you

  • need read it, if the wind is making it a little loud.

  • >> Toni TONI SOFT SPOKEN?! haha ,yeah, well you know

  • what, what I tell myself it take one day at a time and

  • slow your life down. And I try to take two evenings a week and get out and

  • rub shoulders with people. Get out and shake a hand or say hello or just

  • be around people People sometimes isolate themselves and that

  • can bring on depression, that's not positive. Sometimes

  • you say oh it's good and I can sit in the corner and I can do my

  • social media, yeah that's fine and dandy but, sometimes that

  • can take you to another level because you're not happy, so you see

  • other people happy, you may not be happy, so just come and join

  • us and be happy and introduce yourself and say "hey, I'm Toni"

  • or "hey, hi Jonathan" not that you're just every minute going to

  • stay there just take that moment to say hi, even if it's just a

  • shout out across the room. You know, sometimes we go to the mall to people

  • watch. >> Jonathan

  • Yeah, I mean you can be the most positive person in the world

  • but if you're at home, no one gets to experience that

  • positive energy so get out, come out, meet us and spread it.

  • >> Toni Yeah, and don't afraid to feel like you don't

  • belong, and I see that sometimes. We all belong, we're all God's

  • children, you know, this is our space, so enjoy it. And

  • it doesn't even cost money most of the time. It doesn't cost money

  • to sit out here and let the leaves blow, and the acorns

  • you know. yeah, get out there it's free, that's a big

  • thing I see. I don't spend much money, because, and I don't have

  • much money to spend, that's probably why, but you

  • know what, I'm happy because money doesn't cry over you,

  • so you don't cry over money. Of course we need

  • it to live but other than that, do those free-bees. Which

  • right now is a good feeling. Friday afternoon sitting

  • out here under the trees enjoying the breeze and

  • looking at Jonathan's smile I got my Positive Pin

  • and my positive kid over there. >> Jonathan

  • Well thank you very much for doing this, I appreciate it

  • >> Toni Thank you for allowing me

  • >> Jonathan Oh my pleasure! Guys if you want to get a

  • Positive Pin please go to our website, it's right here
