In this lesson, we will learn how to ask questions about time.

You are now going to watch a movie about two friends called Loren and Catherine.

Would you like to see a movie tonight ? Do we have time? I have to be home by 9:30.

今晩映画を見に行かない？時間ある？私9時30分前に帰らないと。

Well, I guess it's around 6:15 now, that should be plenty of time.

今は多分6時15分ぐらいだから、十分じゃないかな。

Alright, let's look in the newspaper and see what's playing.

I haven't seen any of these movies. How about this one... The Scorpion?

Yeah, it's supposed to be a good movie. How much time do we have?

Yes, it's twenty-five past six. That gives us almost three hours, that should be plenty of time. So let's go get tickets.

I don't have any cash. Do you think I can pay with a credit card?

The movie starts at six thirty. Another way of saying six thirty is half past six.

答えは6時半です。別の言い方は6時30分過ぎです。

What time did Catherine have to be home? Let’s listen to her again.

キャサリンさんは何時前に帰らないといけませんか？もう一回聞きましょう。

Do we have time? I have to be home by 9:30. Do we have time?

時間は大丈夫ですか？私9時30分前に帰らないと。時間は大丈夫ですか？

She needs to get home by 9.30.

Yes there is time. They can go to the cinema!

Now, let’s look at some ways of asking the time.

Yes, its twenty-five past six.

6時25分よ。

This way of asking the time is easy.

これは簡単な聞き方です。

Do you have the time?

今何時ですか？

You can also say:

こう言うのもいいです：

Excuse me, do you have the time, please?

すみません、今何時ですか？

Or:

或いは：

What is the time please? Well done! Now it’s your turn to have a try.
