Other cases are still pending.

As the Corona virus continues to make headlines around the world, some people here in mid Michigan are starting to worry.

But local experts say there's no need to panic.

Fox 47 Stone Cold Buckman explains.

There are far more cases of the flu out there.

There's far more reasons to be concerned over getting the flu.

According to the CDC, the flu has already sickened at least 13 million Americans this winter, hospitalizing 120,000 and killing nearly 2000.

And the Ingham County Health department says this flu season hasn't even peaked yet.

We should be more concerned about that.

They're far more likely to die from flu, which begs the question.

Why aren't Americans ask concerned over the flu?

There are just certain reasons that people don't think about it as soon as it's like, Oh H one n one when that happened several years ago, then all of a sudden we have this heightened.

Oh my gosh, that h one n one flu.

Well, you know what?

That h one n one flu is still out there because it's soon as that became a pandemic flu.

It then became our normal year to year circulating strain, Ville says, because the strain of the Corona virus is new and different and there is no known vaccine for it.

That's what's adding to the worldwide fear.

It's novel, and then once it's novel and in humans and it starts spreading person to person, it can be more serious and it can spread more quickly.

McClaren is monitoring the current U.

S cases and the one possible case in Michigan, but says no specific precautions need to be made in the hospital.

We have precautions that we're taking with the flu type patients, which we mill may represent similar type symptoms of this.

There wouldn't be anything extra right now, keep doing what we're doing, Bill says.

The flu season, maybe even better this year due to the height and Corona virus concern and that more people are taking health precautions.

Wash your hands, cover your cough, stay home.

We're sick or all the things that people are now like.

Oh, my gosh, we've got to do this to keep from getting Corona virus.

So maybe we'll amp up a little activity on the wash your hands.

Cover your cough.

Stay home when you're sick.

The health department is also recommending the flu shot during this time because it is peak flu season.

Test results from the newest possible Michigan case should be released within the next several days.
