  • I'm heading to Japan Village, 20,000 square foot Food Hall in Brooklyn's Industry City to tour some of Japanese cuisine.

  • Together, we're going to find out how many food stalls we can hit in a single afternoon.

  • I have heard so much about this place, but I've never been, and I feel like it's super special for people like us that maybe group away from Japan but want, like Japanese food.

  • I've never been here by one Japanese food all the time.

  • A lot of times, food stalls is not a fancy businesses.

  • It's ah, it's a very traditional family business.

  • A lot of times it's been passed down from Father's son for 50 60 70 maybe even longer years and whatever.

  • I go somewhere like, I want to support the local culture.

  • What I always is the best way to do that.

  • Take a bite out of it and there's nothing better than street food so good.

  • I know you've been here many, many a time.

  • What would you say is your favorite aspect of Japan Village?

  • The reason why I've been here many times is because I want to support my friend, who I'm sure we're gonna meet Arena.

  • Her family runs the show here and has made such a great destination place toe have okonomiyaki, tako yaki any you know?

  • So it's just such a fun place to be.

  • And I'm so excited Thio just have you guys here and hopefully meet up with Arena for show us around.

  • So shall we make our way inside thief.

  • First stop on our tour is hachi for some Japanese street food classics.

  • On the menu is seafood.

  • Yeah, Csorba Stir fried noodles with shrimp, scallops and octopus and okonomiyaki.

  • A cabbage pancakes topped with pork Kewpie mayonnaise and a savory okonomiyaki sauce.

  • Like so excited.

  • All right, so this is our first stop called Hachi that specializes in Japanese street food.

  • So I feel like what makes Japanese street food street food is the fact that the word yucky is in their food names like Yaki Yaki yaki, soba winnings to grill.

  • Yeah, and it's very cool, but she's so cool.

  • But she is really, like, common term.

  • Used with street food.

  • It means that it smells roasted, savory and delicious With all those words combined together, I feel like every culture has something like this.

  • Like Chinese chow mein.

  • There's so many cultures Have this she she noodle dish.

  • So how would you describe okonomiyaki to somebody who's never had it?

  • Like What is it?

  • I would say Cabbage pancake cabbage thinking too.

  • You know the first time I ever had this was on airplane.

  • It's so good that Manny's and the soft combination with the crunch of the cab totally make that work so well together.

  • I would say the motivation was, um, very communities really want to spread food and drink culture of Japan.

  • That's why we have a supermarket sunrise.

  • Smart.

  • And we also have the food hall highlighting various types of Japanese foods.

  • Wondered, I really want to be a destination for everyone of all ages.

  • Really, To be able to explore and have fun.
