The Chicago ST Patrick's Day parade for Saturday is cancelled.
This is the downtown parade.
It was just posted on the Chicago ST Patrick's Day Parade website.
Mayor Lightfoot returned to Chicago today from a brief spring break trip, and it was Mayor Lightfoot who made the decision to cancel the downtown ST Patrick's Day parade.
Governor Pritzker had encouraged that the parade be canceled.
He was following in step with Dublin and Boston, who did the same thing.
We're still checking to find out that status of the Southside Irish parade, which is supposed to be held Sunday, this Sunday, March 15th at noon in the Beverly neighborhood.
Um, and we'll check on other ST Patrick's Day parades in our area.
But again, the downtown ST Patrick's Day parade for Saturday this Saturday, March 14th has officially been canceled.
