  • How can you--

  • I haven't been to sleep yet.

  • No, have you been at all?

  • No, no.

  • Because I knew if I went down, I would not get back up.

  • Because we had the Oscars and then GMA the next morning.

  • We had a 1:30 AM wake up call.

  • And I knew I was going to be seeing you.

  • So, all good, all good.

  • So you're at the Oscars.

  • You interview people.

  • You talk to people.

  • Then you leave at what time?

  • Well, last night was the first time

  • that I actually got to go to the Oscars.

  • I didn't work the red carpet.

  • I walked the red carpet.

  • [CHEER]

  • So-- I know, right?

  • Oh, I did work it.

  • I did work it.

  • I can't even do that.

  • I never could do that.

  • I was there with Michael Strahan.

  • And then we were sitting in the audience,

  • and just taking in the show.

  • And then when Brad Pitt won--

  • because Michael Strahan, who has met everyone in the world,

  • said, I've never met this man.

  • I'm like, I've got my-- let's go.

  • So we went backstage.

  • And I did the interview with him.

  • Went back, saw a little bit more of the show,

  • and then went back to the room, and had

  • my burger that I always have waiting

  • for me from room service.

  • At what time?

  • That was like 12:30.

  • 12:30?

  • Yeah, 12:30.

  • So you did go out.

  • I didn't go-- I was out.

  • But I--

  • Yeah, but the whole thing was over at like 8:30.

  • Ooh.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • Where were you during the hours of 8:30 and midnight?

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • Working!

  • Because we had to wait for them to come backstage.

  • Because they're taking their group photos and all.

  • You've been there.

  • You know that.

  • I know.

  • But I didn't know till 12:30 people are talking.

  • Anyway, I'm so happy to see you.

  • It's great to see you, too, Ellen.

  • So you're flying back tonight?

  • Right, yes, on the red eye.

  • Are you nervous about--

  • I know that you've talked to people on your show

  • about this-- but the whole coronavirus,

  • and flying, and all that stuff?

  • Yeah, I got to tell you, when on the flight out here,

  • and I'm going back home, someone does that sneeze or something,

  • you give the stank eye.

  • Like, mm, a little side eye, like, ooh,

  • especially if they haven't covered their mouth.

  • But I see people with these masks.

  • They have designer masks now.

  • Somebody had a leopard skin mask on.

  • They're capitalizing on that.

  • It seems like they are doing that.

  • We got to do that.

  • We got you some.

  • Because I know you travel a lot.

  • Right.

  • So we have this.

  • Oh, thank you.

  • Yeah, and then we have your dog.

  • Oh, Little Man Lucas.

  • This is great!

  • And then we have-- of course, you can promote you, too.

  • Yeah, this would go over real well.

  • Did you see this one, guys?

  • Yeah.

  • "Robin Roberts under here."

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • Yeah, that would be the one.

  • But I don't have one.

  • So this is going to come in really handy.

  • And also, your dog, I know, is popular on Instagram.

  • So I thought--

  • 5,000 followers, yeah.

  • That's pretty impressive.

  • Sweet Amber is upset that--

  • my partner--

  • [AW-ING]

  • Yes-- that the dog has more followers than she does.

  • And she's very, very upset about that.

  • But look at him!

  • Look at that!

  • He's ringing in the new year!

  • Is he happy to wear that hat?

  • He is happy to wear that hat.

  • Well, so she's getting in-- if she gets in the picture,

  • then she's going to start getting more followers.

  • Well, see, that's what she's doing.

  • She tags herself in his pictures like that, just to kind of--

  • Yeah.

  • But I can't believe we've become that couple that

  • has the dog with own following and things like that.

  • Well, but if it's popular, and people like it,

  • and it makes people happy, it's a good thing to put out there.

  • It's a great thing to do that.

  • Yeah.

  • And if he gets to be so many followers,

  • then we can make money off of him,

  • if he gets to a certain level.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • That's not our motivation!

  • Not at all!

  • Not at all!

  • That's fantastic thinking.

  • Yes.

  • So you have been at ABC for how long now?

  • I have been with the Disney company for 30 years.

  • Wow.

  • 30 years.

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • I know.

  • 30 years of very little sleep.

  • I haven't had a lot of sleep in those 30.

  • But it's been a wonderful--

  • no pun intended-- a wonderful, wild ride.

  • It really has been.

  • That's fantastic.

  • I've enjoyed it.

  • All right, we have to take a break.

  • But we're going to play a really fun game after this.

  • What's that?

  • It's none of your business.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • We'll play--

  • This is what I stayed up for, this abuse?

  • That's right.

  • It's just some mystery game.

  • OK.

  • Yeah, all right.

  • But you could win some money for a charity.

  • Oh, wonderful.

  • Or you could give it to me.

  • We'll be back.

How can you--
