  • Hello, everyone, and welcome to another video.

  • Now this is quick to when it released in December of 1997.

  • It's so easy to run by today's standards that steams hardware requirements.

  • Just state that you need a PC system.

  • That's about it.

  • It's an absolute classic, and since its original release over 20 years ago, it has retained an enthusiastic player base.

  • Which is why, on the sixth of during this year, it received the re master treatment and best it'll the 1st 3 levels of free to play.

  • His 20 year old gain now supports in videos Ray tracing technology.

  • This then made it a perfect addition to my little Can it run?

  • Siri's the one where we take old games, overhaul them graphically and see how well they perform on the same hardware that the original unmuddied versions of the game would have run flawlessly on, just to see how performance differs.

  • Speaking of differs, this video will be a little different to the others in the can It run Siri's because at first glance and without our techs enabled, this version of quake to will still run on absolutely anything.

  • Here's the duty x 10 70 for example.

  • It's overkill for this title, I know, but you'll notice it'll allow us to hit 1000 frames per second.

  • I'm exploring the first level here, and everything is running very smoothly.

  • This, on the other hand, is what's known to some as the worst graphics card ever made.

  • It's more deserving of the title video adapter, as it's an ideal addition to low end systems that might not have an H D M Io v G, a port built into the motherboard.

  • It is, of course, the direct takes 10 based G force to 10.

  • It's awful in every way.

  • Even so, it's still runs Quake to like a dream, with over 200 frames per second most of the time at 10 80 p.

  • Resolution with the highest settings bar.

  • One exception.

  • But we'll get onto that.

  • It looks like a G, I know, but trust me, there's no lag here.

  • Accidentally recorded it at 30 frames per second instead of 60.

  • But hopefully the frame counter in the top corner tells you everything you need to know about the performance of this game on this graphics card.

  • This goes to show that even in 2019 quake to will still run on absolutely any GPU out there.

  • So there we have it.

  • Just kidding, because there's one thing we haven't explored.

  • Looking at the minimum system specs This time round tells us all we need to know because, well, we've got a fairly weak Jule Core CPU listed here with eight gigs of Ram graphics card wise things aren't so friendly.

  • I don't own an arty X 2060 I'm afraid to say.

  • But the interesting thing about the GTX 10 70 is that it was included.

  • Among the cards that received in videos are T X update through drivers.

  • This feature worked well with my 10 70 in Battlefield five, enhancing the weapon reflections and adding a new layer of realism to the look of the game so off.

  • It also meant that the frame rate was affected quite badly, that medium settings are still doable, with reasonable F p s, the unassuming quake to then must run like a dream, even on a card that doesn't support the x r natively.

  • So let's flip the switch.

  • Oh my gosh, Ah, hole.

  • Six frames per second.

  • It really doesn't handle the Arctic's overhaul very well.

  • It's all.

  • I wasn't sure what to expect going into this, considering this isn't an arty ex card, but I had a feeling this might happen.

  • It seems that the minimum system requirements were more than just a guideline.

  • They are literal, but surely we can make Quake to playable with Ray tracing on a Jew ticks 10 70 right?

  • I mean, dropping a few settings will surely do the trick.

  • So first things first.

  • I kept the resolution a 10 80 p but dropped the settings down to low, including switching off global illuminations, which, while it may mute some of the cool effects, should give us a nice frame rate boost.

  • Well, a nice boost, that is.

  • I mean, it's way more than six if my mathematics skills don't deceive May, but we're still falling short of playable.

  • For my next trick.

  • I turn the resolution down to 7 20 p but switched global illuminations back up to medium, hoping that the resolution drop would allow us to enable some of the more intensive graphical features on get better results.

  • This area really shows off some of the enhanced lighting effects, but the frame rate was still about the same.

  • It's a shame because it looks fantastic, though it's still not enough to convince me to buy an arty ex card just yet.

  • Lastly, I kept the resolution but dropped all of the settings, and this is what pushed us over 30 frames per second.

  • We're still seeing an improvement to the lighting effects in some regard, but at this point I feel like you may as well switch back to open G L render mode and enjoyed it remastered classic as it is.

  • Or you could Mexico out for a TV if you wanted for nostalgic purposes and you'd see at least 30 FBS too.

  • Okay, so even without the fancy graphics, this gym is definitely still worth of play.

  • But all I can say is move over crisis because can it run Quake to is the new challenge in town.

  • And with all that said, I'd like to thank you all very much for watching this video.

  • If you enjoyed it, leave a light on it.

  • Leave a dislike if you didn't, It just goes to show that this Arctic overhaul really does make an old game very demanding.

  • Indeed.

  • If you don't have specific hardware to run it, though going out and purchasing a 3 £400 or dollars graphics card just to run it with all the new graphic enhancements enabled doesn't sound like the best idea.

  • Finally, subscribed to the General.

  • If you want to, and you haven't done so already on Dhe, I'll see you all in the next one.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to another video.
