  • I did say there wasn't much interesting, but that doesn't mean there was nothing interesting now in amongst festival, there were a couple of things that I wanted to know more about.

  • One of those was the new project from Maxwell Kelowna Dashwood called Peak Water.

  • Now this is a water treatment jug similar to kind of Britta water filters designed specifically for coffee.

  • And that's kind of a big deal, because in London there's not much in the way of a good solution.

  • I won't go too much into detail about why water chemistry is important.

  • I would probably recommend checking out Maxwell's book and and listening to some of the talks he's given out there.

  • None of the home filter solutions like the British Star cartridges, have really done what's necessary to turn very hard water into good water for coffee on Maxwell. 00:00:56.840 --> 00:01:3.130 Project has a pretty cool solution to that, and I'm very excited to see it come to market in the next six months or so. 00:01:3.700 --> 00:01:5.880 I'll 100 over Thio Maxwell. 00:01:5.950 --> 00:01:18.410 I'll let him explain a little bit more on, uh, I'll see you after this quick interview way idea.

  • Waas wouldn't be really cool if we could get industry water filtration technology on maybe tweak it a bit.

  • Give it better.

  • Make it based on what we've learned.

  • But ultimately, if we could get it into a water jug, it's really rudimentary thing that lost people having their homes around the world way could make it adjustable on if I could make that copy that what it is, effectively, a brighter.

  • I describe a typical non granted villages as like a pore over for water.

  • Yeah, it's just imagine, like a 360 full of a mix of some carbon andan ion exchange president.

  • Then all the water passes through that on. 00:01:59.140 --> 00:02:6.460 Hopefully, their carbon doesn't work on it, and so does the resident, and you get a fixed results so it doesn't matter which one you put in. 00:02:6.970 --> 00:02:7.910 It's gonna act on. 00:02:8.030 --> 00:02:8.750 The water's the same. 00:02:9.100 --> 00:02:11.450 Yeah, you'll get a different result with the water you put in.

  • So the problem we have is a really hard water needs more treatment than its after water.

  • But even though most companies who produced drugs produce much more sophisticated versions for cafes, versions for people's homes were very simple approach for my own personal frustration.

  • The whole beginning of the water project was recognizing it wasn't even recognizing it was going Okay, so we've got a problem.

  • Coffee doesn't taste how we want it to.

  • The person who wrote this copy doesn't think it tastes how it should.

  • Either way.

  • Both tested our water test TDs.

  • Is they kind of the same?

  • That was the beginning.

  • Why Why don't they taste the same?

  • And actually, the TDs doesn't really tell us what's in the water.

  • Just tells us there's something there. 00:03:3.320 --> 00:03:12.790 What we've done is people get a little testy it nice and simple, and we'll tell them how to set it now if they are really in stuffy and they want to go on peace, and they want to adjust it to their preference up to them, too.

  • But ultimately, or just the alkalinity on, then we've basically separated treatment into three chambers.

  • So we've got the carbon, which you mentioned before it's gonna get rid of things like chlorine, organic compounds, anything we don't really want.

  • Everybody kind of agrees.

  • You need carbon so all the water goes through the carbon on way, created these maze systems were calling baffles or filter may systems all these different things on it means that all the water is forced to to find its way through all of the carbon before it gets out.

  • The other side problem with.

  • It's a bit like, you know, when a pore over you would have you have that same problem with the water filter.

  • There's a lot of water doesn't actually get treated right. 00:03:53.310 --> 00:04:8.580 But then hardness is gonna be dealt with by the second chamber on the third chamber, which will have two different residence in so way residents work is they swap things around, right? 00:04:9.550 --> 00:04:14.010 So you charge these little tiny beads that Look, we've got some in here.

  • You just see them inside there really, really small, like sand.

  • Almost.

  • They get charged with ions and they swap with ions in the water.

  • If you want Cattleman's, you can't even those.

  • Yeah, that's why we need to different residents.

  • One for an island from one cattle.

  • It in simple terms.

  • One to focus on things like housing, like museum one to focus on things like nitrates and sulfate.

  • So we're still debating what this represents and what this represents.

  • I think we would have this for a soft setting.

  • Water in this way may add more settings.

  • Copy Community is very good at giving data.

  • So lots people around the world. 00:04:56.620 --> 00:05:1.910 When we asked them to tested that water and told us what kind of water they have, there will be an upper limit on this. 00:05:2.040 --> 00:05:4.210 Somebody quite rightly from Mexico. 00:05:4.210 --> 00:05:6.130 Set off way can't drink up. 00:05:6.140 --> 00:05:6.690 What's remakes? 00:05:6.690 --> 00:05:8.830 Guy get where where I am. 00:05:8.840 --> 00:05:9.850 Can we use this jug? 00:05:9.980 --> 00:05:10.960 And the answer is no.

  • It's clean drinking water, right to optimize it and also the higher level.

  • We haven't said it yet, but I would say that once you start going like 800 parts per 1,000,000 way, do we're gonna have a struggle so there'll be enough for them in on it.

  • And then what?

  • A lot of people quite rightly asking how the life in the copy and three people are used to having a different life based on the water people at their homes.

  • So ultimately, the moment it's quite an analog device.

  • So way we're adding all these things in like little testers.

  • A digital display on the price is going up and up, and up, but we really wanted to make it accessible.

  • Price wise Way tried to focus on the core principles, and it's quite animal. 00:05:51.960 --> 00:06:1.050 So you would need Thio test your water and then the book will say, Okay, you could get 100 liters out of this and then it's kind of up to the user to be aware of that 100 litres. 00:06:1.730 --> 00:06:5.650 People have probably quite surprised how quickly they'll taste what it's done. 00:06:6.100 --> 00:06:6.700 That's the other thing. 00:06:7.000 --> 00:06:8.100 You get used to it, right? 00:06:8.330 --> 00:06:13.650 Yeah, Like once you start drinking well prepared water and then, you know, runs out.

  • This copy just doesn't taste the water right?

  • And the little people that surprise, they start to notice it without knowing that, you know?

  • Yeah, yeah, but the other thing that's interesting, which we have to tell people, is these systems, all of us, they're all open to the air or it's a cafe.

  • That system sealed right life is literally when the field can't do its job anymore.

  • But with these there's a freshness element.

  • You regulations around it, which is a bacteria buildup.

  • So we have to tell people to change him two months, regardless of that 27 days left.

  • Okay?

  • I've never done a Kickstarter before. 00:07:0.620 --> 00:07:2.010 Talking to yesterday was very useful. 00:07:2.080 --> 00:07:4.500 I found out some new things we could start doing today. 00:07:4.510 --> 00:07:6.560 Yeah, but yeah, I suppose people have done it. 00:07:6.560 --> 00:07:7.270 And there's lots. 00:07:7.280 --> 00:07:8.240 You know, there's the rules. 00:07:8.260 --> 00:07:15.650 30 days seems to be I'm getting most of the money through the door the first couple of days.

  • So with three days in and with 67 700 congratulations.

  • Thank you very much on then.

  • Obviously.

  • Yeah.

  • Way.

  • Raise more money.

  • Great way to make more drugs on.

  • Hopefully get there quicker.

  • Obviously, if we don't hit the target, we don't Anything.

  • But money is for the tooling.

  • Gotcha is always Yeah, I think I didn't even really recognize tooling costs.

  • It's a lot of money.

  • A copy, given the very they It's kind of easy to get them excited by.

  • And they understand the challenges, I think.

  • Why wait?

  • When you hoping to deliver November?

  • November? 00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:0.070 Yeah, that's pretty good for Kicks out six months. 00:08:0.070 --> 00:08:1.050 Yeah, that's pretty good. 00:08:1.060 --> 00:08:4.280 We've got after what we've got now is filters that work. 00:08:4.510 --> 00:08:7.860 Yeah, we're deciding exactly on the residents on that. 00:08:7.870 --> 00:08:9.740 We would like to get it faster right now. 00:08:9.750 --> 00:08:11.600 It takes eight minutes way.

  • Think.

  • And that's on the setting.

  • We're treating really hard, Right?

  • Maximum.

  • Yeah, right.

  • So he's time.

  • Exactly.

  • So the if you said it harder way Tell you that hard or whatever and you use a Lamaze is you stole that time right now.

  • Way would like to be a maximum of five minutes.

  • Oh, and just quickly stuff about some water.

  • Yeah.

  • So lots People have asked questions, um, about so forth.

  • And the truth is, with primary design behind this was treating what problem?

  • Moderate to hard water.

  • On the flip side, soft water is still a problem.

  • What?

  • Just let's have a problem.

  • Yes.

  • People who live in glass go anywhere around the world have been quite receptive.

  • Adding minerals their water. 00:08:58.210 --> 00:09:5.630 Whether they follow the first hustle concentration on the idea with the discs, they're interchangeable. 00:09:6.000 --> 00:09:11.790 And once we launch this, which we think yourself in the biggest problem way, then intend to look a second.

  • Thank you.

  • Re memorizing.

  • That's very cool.

  • Congratulations.

  • Thank you.

  • If you want to know more than right now, Maxwell's Kickstarter is live.

  • I think it's pretty much funded so If you want to get involved, now is a good time.

  • I'll leave a link in the description down below.

  • You can get behind it.

  • I look forward to seeing it come to market in about six months from now.

  • So that was one of the things that I thought was pretty cool at the London Coffee Festival this year.

I did say there wasn't much interesting, but that doesn't mean there was nothing interesting now in amongst festival, there were a couple of things that I wanted to know more about.
