It's a Goodwill!

Good, we'll go inside and get things started.

And it's kind of an open floor plan going on today.

And one of the first things I noticed [laughs] Oh Goodwill.

It's an outboard boat motor just sitting in a shopping cart as-is for $75.

All right.

Also in this other buggy there was a couple of Pioneer speakers that looked kinda cool.

CS-C9000s.

Though for a hundred bucks and looking pretty beat up I doubt those are moving anytime soon.

Over in the CDs and hey what do you know: a DOS game!

It's Batman Forever: The Arcade Game.

Did not know that came out for DOS.

It's not one I'm looking to add to my collection loose but hey you know: yay, DOS games!

Ooh what is this homedicks thing?

Homedics, home-whatever.

Aquascape CD Tower, yeah "a kaleidoscope of bubbling light."

That is wonderfully tacky and what is this, "missing the power chord."

Chord?

Oh Metallica is not gonna be amused.

Over in the glass case next to the tiki mugs and weird little fat guy with an open head

and bowler hats there were some Nintendo GameBoy cartridges for various systems.

Nothing I'm looking for but you know.

There it is.

Also in the case were more games, a plastic bird, a copy of Windows Live OneCare.

Mmkay.

And this guy right here who appears to have seen better days, with the knives stuck through his body.

But you know he looks comfortable enough so whatever.

Over in the electronics and ahh you know I'm not usually one for dial-up modems, I don't

have much use for them.

But if this was more complete I would've definitely wanted to get it.

This is a US Robotics Courier 2400 baud dial-up modem.

Oh it's neat.

I mean it looks neat anyway, again wouldn't really be able to do much with it.

Yeah I'd kinda like to get something of this style if I were to get an external modem to

show off or something sometime.

Up above here was a kind of a neat little bookshelf stereo system by Realistic.

Speaking of woodgrain, check out these Bose speakers!

I didn't catch the model but they seem to be some kind of corner speaker setup.

They had drivers all around, it's just a neat looking thing I thought.

This caught my eye as well for its circular design, look at this Harmon Kardon CD changer.

They way it opens up with this round lid reminds me of like a giant PlayStation 1 or something.

I don't know, just haven't come across a CD changer of this style on Thrifts before.

What is this yellowed thing with brown buttons?

A Take-a-Long tape player?

I guess a kids battery powered tape thing.

Yeah it felt like it weighed like nothing, hehe like I've held packs of gum that were

heavier than this.

Let's see what is this, got a Genesis Phil Collins camera here?

Eh no it's just some camera.

Ah I dunno, maybe there's something interesting about it but it's not for me, unlike this

Sony FD-7 FD Mavica over here.

So this is a nice little digital camera, I've covered these before.

But I don't think I've run across the FD-7 while thrifting before.

And no floppy disk inside, I always like to check just in case anybody's filled it up

with retro photos.

Speaking of retro, hehe got some brand new PDA screen protectors.

Mm, can't say I'm needing any of those but yeah.

Got a step-down voltage converter for electronics travel conversion so you don't blow stuff up!

And what in the world, look at all these still-sealed ethernet adapters, for, looks like they're all PCI.

That's too bad, might've grabbed one if they were ISA but nope.

Onto another Goodwill!

And you know I didn't notice until I was recording this voiceover: is that a ripoff Star Wars Lego set?

Wish I'd noticed when I was there, that's a little weird.

But anyway up above I did notice this, a Captain James T. Kirk 12-inch vinyl model kit.

I guess it's just a vinyl figure, it's from a company that does model kits.

And then checking out the toy section, certainly seems like someone was into Star Trek and

then, well, not anymore.

There were a number of random Star Trek new old stock items just hanging around.

Next Generation figures and a SkyBox, whatever that is.

Got a Stardate calendar here for 1997, aw.

And why do I feel that this is related, I don't know.

We have a Non-Sport Update, "the magazine for the discriminating collector of non-sport cards."

I like how they put "babe" in quotes.

What the heck, Bob Ross with painting hair?

All right so I guess there was a Bob Ross game, The Art of Chill.

I did not know that, what a happy little accident!

Speaking of little what are these tiny little books?

Oh they're drink coasters!

Yeah they're made to look like little encyclopedia volumes. Heh.

Speaking of strange encyclopedia-themed things, check out this lamp.

It's got a couple of encyclopedias and various other books, they just glued them together,

drilled a hole through the middle and made it a lamp.

I mean you know.

It's pretty enLIGHTening but... nyeheheeh.

Aw here we go, we got some electronics that for whatever reason they really catch my eye.

Look at that Sharp SA-X50AV receiver and that blue and red and gold on black color scheme,

I really like that.

Even that Fisher CD changer down below, I dunno.

It's kind of an appealing design, man: A/V stuff. It's good stuff.

Ooh what is this, I see retro keyboard.

We got a Yamaha PSR-12.

Actually in pretty decent shape. It was twenty dollars.

No power cord and ah it's just a really simple kind of piano anyway but more fascinating

than most I see at Goodwill.

Mm, so is this, augh.

This Pioneer stereo receiver model SX-990, I was highly tempted to grab this.

It was $125 though.

Anyway great looking machine.

Ooh this is interesting, it looks like this goes to maybe like a portable VCR kind of deal here.

Yeah, there's a cable on the back here that looks like it goes to the VCR but -- oh look there it is.

Yeah that has seen better days but you can see the little metal things coming out the

side there, it's where you put a strap, connect that, carry it around,

record with your camcorder, whatever.

Oh look at this lonely little CRT on a table over here, what is this.

LXI? Never heard of that.

And on the way out there was quite a substantial selection of someone's snow globes they dropped off.

Is that a Santa Yoda? Huh.

All sorts of fascinating things in here, look at there, there's a Blues Brothers car snow globe.

Never know what you'll find here.

All right onto another Goodwill!

And inside the glass case here a Star Trek 25th Anniversary collection of cards.

Wonder if that was donated at the last store and got sent here.

Anyway, didn't spend too much time with it because right behind that was this gigantic

Sony projection TV.

A somewhat newer model of this type of thing, looks like it was $150 they dropped it to $75.

Yeah made in 2003.

CRTs! Definitely.

And for whatever reason there were a ton just hanging around the Goodwill today.

I counted at least a dozen units from all sorts of companies: JVC, Sharp, RCA, Magnavox,

Zenith, Panasonic, Philips.

A couple of them were kinda decent.

Nothing I needed or would personally pick up but then this one caught my eye.

Look at this little guy, this is a GoldStar TV.

Lucky GoldStar, the company that later became LG.

And as cool as this looked it was missing the front panel and like pretty much all the

other ones was RF-only.

So yeah I don't need another color TV from this era really.

Although it was a dollar, still tempting.

As far as the newer ones though, this was the most tempting unit.

It was also a dollar and I think it was a 32-inch.

It's a Panasonic and it had RF, composite, s-video, and component.

I have a few Trinitrons that do this but you know, this is a pretty good TV for someone.

Ahh look at these chairs!

Ah I don't know, these designs they make me happy.

Oh this pattern, it beckons me to live inside of it.

Over in the puzzles and board games, ran across something that I recognized.

And ah check it out: Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus: The CD-ROM Game.

Whatever.

I don't really care about the game I just wanted this package actually.

It's a heart-shaped box for a computer game.

And this one's still sealed, it comes with the cardboard cutout to make it so it can stand up.

The one I had was just loose, it didn't have the standing parts so I'll take it.

Checking out the keyboards and heheheh, well.

This one stood out for obvious reasons.

It's a pretty generic keyboard but somebody bedazzled the crap out of it.

Kind of impressive really.

Ooh what is this?

Check out this calculator: Sears C1, it's so blue!

Ah yes, I'm absolutely getting this if it's any kind of working condition.

Aw man. Seems the display is thoroughly screwed up.

An absolute shame really.

All right what do we got here.

Some floppy disks and, huh. 800K Macintosh floppy disks, looks like somebody's backup here.

Usually these kind of personal files don't make it out onto the sales floor so that's

a bit unusual.

All right, random electronics and what is this face?

It's a General Electric solid state FM/AM radio.

Solid state, not in great shape, but I like the look of it and check this out.

"Times Square Stores."

I always like finding old retail stickers on any kind of thing in thrift stores.

And you know, go figure: with all those CRT TVs this is the thing that grabs my attention the most.

A pair of 9-inch monochrome SVGA displays.

Both manufactured sometime in the mid-90s and yeah these were point of sale systems.

Or, attached to them, you know like cash registers.

Neither of them appear to have any screen burn-in so I just picked the one that kind

of appealed to me the most and took it home, we'll try it out.

And one final Goodwill stop for this particular episode.

Oh wha-ha-haw. You know those ugly chairs we saw earlier?

Muah, that's just perfect retro tackiness.

Got a crapload of incandescent light bulbs brand new over here and what is this oversized pipe?

Hehe, oh it's an ashtray.

Okay so you could smoke a pipe, and empty the pipe's ash into another pipe.

Yo dawg, I heard you like pipes.

Ooh hey is this one of those -- yeah kind of.

So this is a Samsung DVD/VHS player that does HDMI.

Now I have actually been looking for one of these.

Not this one in particular because the HDMI output only works for the DVD player, not

VHS or anything.

And looking up online this is not a particularly good model.

There are a couple though, some of the last ones made that are quite sought after.

And rather useful if you're someone like me.

Ooh hey, check it out: got a TI-83+ calculator, anybody wanna play some calculator Doom?

Goodness, got someone that offloaded their entire Animorphs collection it appears.

Oh these books and their covers.

They were probably all done with that one piece of morphing software, I actually have

that, I should review it.

Ooh we got another very full set of a series of books here.

The Young People's Science Encyclopedia.

Fifties and sixties science books and encyclopedias, I'm always attracted to them for whatever reason.

It's the illustrations and outdated information, just the particular way that they tell kids

how things work.

I dunno, brings back memories.

Now this one's a new one on me, what is this.
