Millions of Americans use hand sanitizers daily to remove germs from their hands.
The FDA is issuing a final rule on consumer antiseptic rubs, including hand sanitizers
but will still be collecting additional information from companies on the safety and effectiveness
of these products.
However, consumers like you can continue to use these products if you do not have access
to soap and water.
FDA has not seen evidence that hand sanitizers are harmful.
Washing your hands with plain soap and water is still the best way to prevent getting sick
or spreading infections that could make others sick.
The rulemaking process is one of many ways the FDA protects and promotes the public health.
Remember … To fight germs, wash your hands.
