How to prepare for an interview is a huge topic but now we will hit the most relevant points, this would be a quick guide for general interviews. For more specific interview types subscribe to our channel. 1. Plan the interview with time. Do your research, get to know the company and the position, analyze it and ensure it matches your background and your professional interest. 2. Typical questions which are standard in many interviews are: Obviously an introduction of yourself, your background, studies and experience. Focus on your achievements and responsibilities, rather than just your job titles. Why did you change from one job to another? Have your reasons ready, keep them positive and proactive, as much as possible Where do you see yourself in five years from now? What are your main strengths and your development points? Describe an example of a complicated task or situation and how you resolved it? Why do you think you would be an ideal candidate for this position and why should you be hired? Be positive, honest and enthusiastic in your responses. 3. Choosing your interview outfit is crucial. Prepare what you'll wear in advance and unless you'll be interviewing for a fashion company, where you would need to match with the dress code within the organization, keep it formal, no piercing, keep tattoos covered, minimal make up. However, when interviewing for certain tech companies and start-ups the culture is concertedly more informal. It's good to do some research maybe on the social media of the company and match the look, taking it slightly more professional without being stuff. Overall, just make sure you look professional to the industry, we all have quite a clear vision of what that would be. 4. Be punctual for the interview. Do not arrive too early and certainly do not arrive late. 5-10 minutes before the interview is good. First impressions mean the world, so smile, make eye contact, project confidence with your body language. I know it's a nerve-wracking process, but believe me the interviewer is also interested in your success, that is why you've been invited to the interview in the first place. 5. After the interview, thank the recruiter for their time with a handshake and smile. If no information about the next steps is given, feel free to ask about it. Sending them a “thank you” email the next day, reaffirming your interest in the company and in the position would be a big plus. Thank you very much for watching and good luck with your interview.
