  • - Do you snack a lot?

  • - Well, I am a snack!

  • (laughing)

  • You're a snack.

  • And we're gonna swap the snacks.

  • (laughing)

  • - Okay.

  • (upbeat music)

  • - I'm Q. I'm American.

  • - I'm Hitomi.

  • I am Japanese American.

  • - Hi, I'm Rie.

  • I'm Japanese.

  • - Hi, I'm Alix.

  • I'm American.

  • - And today we're gonna be swapping some snacks.

  • - Yeah.

  • - Seeing which ones are better.

  • I don't think I've ever tried

  • a Japanese snack before in my life.

  • - Oh, what?

  • (upbeat music)

  • - These are classic. - Yeah.

  • I mean, they're pretty much the same shape, style,

  • maybe not flavor, which we'll try out,

  • but they're chips in a can.

  • - I can't believe you have a tube snack too.

  • - Yeah, but it's shorter, look.

  • - Yeah, that's true. - Portion control.

  • - Yeah, what is this?

  • - These are pizza-flavored.

  • This is like as American as you can get.

  • - And the flavor, it's lemon.

  • - Whoa!

  • - This is really cute. - Yeah.

  • - This is like, get ready to ruin your life.

  • (laughing)

  • (gasps) (laughing)

  • - All right, cheers. - Cheers.

  • - Hmm.

  • - These are great.

  • - It tastes like artificial pizza.

  • (laughing)

  • - The pizza's the best, 'cause it's like,

  • it really does taste like pizza.

  • - This is lighter.

  • Like, the texture is a little bit crispier.

  • And this has a lot more density to it.

  • - I like mine.

  • - I like mine.

  • - Hmm.

  • (laughing)

  • (upbeat music)

  • - Whoppers!

  • - This is like a six dollar movie snack.

  • - Yeah.

  • - But they're good though.

  • And I promise you, the only time I've ever eaten it

  • was at a movie.

  • - My sweet snack is Mochi Mochi Chocolate.

  • - Ooh!

  • - It's mochi, but have you had roasted tea?

  • - Yeah, actually,

  • I think I have. - Okay.

  • - Because it's roasted, it has more depth.

  • You know?

  • - That sounds magical.

  • These are just like, there's no depth.

  • It's just like,

  • you eat it, you're just there.

  • - How cute is that though?

  • It comes with a little fork. - Yeah.

  • - Okay, so.

  • Well, we know, for sure,

  • Japanese snacks are not accessible.

  • Or, they're accessible but it's like

  • when you open 'em you gotta open 'em again.

  • - So cute.

  • - Cheers.

  • - Do I eat the whole thing? - Yeah.

  • Maybe.

  • - I'm gonna bite it.

  • - It's pretty good. - Yeah?

  • - I like it.

  • The texture though, it's like 100% like--

  • - Yeah.

  • - This is a very light chocolate,

  • and like the tea flavor comes through.

  • And so I really enjoy it.

  • - Mochi has like this "mmmrrreeeeeep."

  • - This is good though.

  • - I'm gonna try hoopers.

  • - Hoopers? - Whopper! Hoopers!

  • - I love Whoppers because,

  • I don't know, I guess because its a malt.

  • It's a fun thing happening in my mouth

  • but, no, Whoppers--

  • (laughing)

  • - I like it, but,

  • let me tell you.

  • - What?

  • - I like-- I'm a dark chocolate person.

  • (upbeat music)

  • - Baby Crabs.

  • (laughing)

  • So, these are literally just itty, bitty, tiny crabs

  • as you can see.

  • (laughing)

  • - I have a hard time eating things

  • that look like they do when they're alive.

  • - I've been clawed by a crab.

  • What is it? Pinched?

  • I've been pinched before. - by a crab?

  • It's okay. It's dead.

  • - It's like an irrational fear.

  • I don't know like it might come alive

  • in my mouth or something.

  • Well these, (laughing)

  • are Flaming Hot Cheetos.

  • These are a classic. - Yes!

  • - Try it. - Okay, here.

  • - And it comes in this little dish, another dish.

  • - Yeah.

  • - Good luck!

  • (laughing) - Ugh.

  • Everything I try to open is so--

  • I feel like I'm going to open these

  • and they're just going to pop in my face.

  • - Don't think it's crab,

  • or don't think it's fish. - Yeah.

  • - Or like seafood.

  • (crunching)

  • - Ooo this is really--

  • - Oh.

  • (crunching)

  • - Uh! (laughing)

  • (crunching)

  • I got a leg.

  • - Alright.

  • (crunching)

  • Ugh!

  • - I can't. I can't eat anymore fish.

  • - Oh yeah.

  • (bag crinkling) (laughing)

  • - I can't.

  • Rei!

  • What are you doing to me? (laughing)

  • (crunching)

  • - They are a lot crunchier than I ever imagined.

  • - Yeah. - Oh my goodness.

  • - Gonna have a Cheeto.

  • Yes!

  • Yes, this is a good snack! (laughing)

  • - Like, it's looking at me.

  • Ugh, I can't.

  • - Oh Wow! Spicy!

  • - It's spicy, right?

  • - It's spicy. - See, Oh.

  • They're just a perfect teenager snack.

  • - Yeah, Cheetos are great.

  • They're nice crunchy.

  • The flaming hot are spicy.

  • A lot of flavor.

  • - I think I like it better,

  • for this round. - I do too, for sure.

  • (upbeat music)

  • - So I have for you jalapeno flavored potato chips.

  • Everybody loves a potato chip.

  • It's easy, it's delicious.

  • - These are squid chips.

  • But, it's actually more like

  • tempura chip--

  • chip fried squid.

  • - It's just a drawing.

  • - There's a little drawing of a squid on the bag.

  • (bags crinkling) (laughing)

  • What have you done again, Rei?

  • - Don't think of a squid squid.

  • It's just a drawing.

  • - See how excited I am to try these.

  • The last ones, just because they looked like crab,

  • they were way off.

  • If they were like this, (laughing)

  • I'd eat the whole bag. - Yeah.

  • - I'm sure of it.

  • - It smells like jalepeno.

  • - Yeah cause they're jalepeno flavored.

  • - Lizard fish paste.

  • (laughing) - Oh my god.

  • That just changed--

  • Never read the ingredients. (laughing)

  • - I mean, I like calamari so--

  • - Uh-huh. - I might like this.

  • - Yeah.

  • (crunching)

  • (crunching)

  • - Mmm, they smell a little lemony.

  • - These are not spicy.

  • - Is it fishy?

  • - No. - Yeah.

  • - It's lemony. - Told you.

  • - These are so good. (crunching)

  • - No heat though.

  • Like, there's no spice in this.

  • - There's not very much heat.

  • - These taste like a sweet and spicy type of deal.

  • I'm all for it.

  • - I'll give you this one.

  • - Good.

  • (hands clap)

  • (upbeat music)

  • - Bugles. - They're like a corn chip.

  • - Oh, we have similar ones. - I wanna say.

  • They're kind of like a corn chip.

  • (crunching) Two.

  • - Don't do more.

  • (crunching) (laughing)

  • - Whoa.

  • (laughing)

  • - It doesn't taste like crab.

  • (crunching) Does it?

  • (crunching)

  • (crunching) - This is really good.

  • - Do you see the crab leg in there?

  • I'm just kidding.

  • - Yo!

  • (laughing)

  • - Yeah, you know, its not bad.

  • But I choose the Bugles.

  • - Maybe.

  • - More flavor, right? - Yeah.

  • - It has a crunch.

  • - But it's almost--

  • it's like,

  • if styrofoam could be a chip,

  • this is it.

  • - Finger hats.

  • (laughing)

  • - Add your hat.

  • (laughing)

  • (gasp) (laughing)

  • (upbeat music)

  • and you have gum, and your candy bars and stuff.

  • This is most likely gonna be there.

  • I present to you

  • a little present. - Wow.

  • I feel like this is going to be way easier to open.

  • Oh my gosh, it's always another layer.

  • - Oh but these guys, - Oh Okay.

  • - You could actually eat the wrapper.

  • If you open it.

  • - This wrapper. (wrapper crinkling)
