Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 113. The noun phrase today is game
plan. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. A game plan is a well thought-out
strategy or a set plan of action in business politics or one's personal life.
The origin of this phrase of course comes from sports, especially a sport
like American football. In many movies, you can see a coach working out
strategies and plans for the game. Yeah. Usually you know, especially in a lot of
the old movies you used to have one of those black chalk boards and drawing a bunch
of X's and circles and you know , how to pass around this way and pass around
that way. But anyway, either way they ... that's really
where the idea of a game plan came from. That, that sort of a situation. Okay. Let's
continue. Okay. Let's just give four examples here to cover that. How we might
use it, especially in business and especially in politics. So let's look at
the first one. What is the game plan ? How are we going to win our market share
back ? Yeah. You might hear that. You know in a business office or a business
meeting, especially if they lost some market share to another company. You know
hey what's our game plan ? We need a game plan. Number two. What is his game plan
for competing with the other political candidates ? Yes. So what's the strategy?
How do they hope to win points or get attention ? You know to to win support
from the voters. All right. Number three. They seem completely disorganized. I
don't think they have any game plan at all. You might hear somebody say it that
way. All right. And number four. If we are going to take
them on and try to compete to win , we are going to need a game plan or a serious
game plan to do it. Okay. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it is clear. Thank you for
your time. Bye-bye.
