Hello, my name is Konomi. We're going to be learning some useful Japanese phrases and
the Japanese culture that can be read from these words. Konnichiwa, watashi no namae
wa Konomi desu. Kore kara issho ni yoku tsukawareru nihongo to sore kara yomitoreru nihon no bunka
ni tsuite manande ikimashou. So today, we're going to learn how to introduce ourselves.
Let's start off with "Hello, my name is". "Konnichiwa, watashi no namae wa Konomi desu."
I just said "hello, my name is Konomi." If you're meeting somebody for the first time,
you would say "hajime mashite," nice to meet you. "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu", I hope to
build a good relationship with you." Now, you wouldn't say this in English, but it's
a very common Japanese greeting. For instance, if I move into a new town and it's my first
day of school, I would say to my new classmates "hajime mashite. Watashi no namae wa Konomi
desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu." Or, if I get a new job, I would say to my new coworkers
"yoroshiku onegaishimasu." So let's try this again! "Hajime mashite. Watashi no namae wa
Konomi desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu." "Hajime mashite. Watashi no namae wa (your name) desu.
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu." So try out these phrases next time you meet someone. Jikai
mo otanoshimi. Matane!
