Liouying is often associated with cows. 說到柳營大家都會想到「牛」

Are there anything interesting besides cows? 除了牛還有什麼好玩的呢？

Mr. Wei, can you tell us a bit about the community? 魏先生,可以幫我介紹一下社區嗎？

The community is home to straw mushrooms. 我們是草菇的故鄉

Therefore, our local products center around straw mushrooms. 因此我們社區以草菇作為特產

There are a lot of fun tours 社區還有好玩的小旅行活動

and hands-on activities. 也可以做DIY喔

Speaking of straw mushrooms, 說到草菇

Katie, have you ever seen how they are grown? Katie 你有看過草菇是怎麼種植的嗎？

I've tried straw mushrooms before, 草菇我有吃過

but I've never seen how they're grown. 但是怎麼種植的我倒是沒看過

Can we see that here? 這裡看得到嗎？

Of course! Come on, let me show you around! 當然囉！ 走，我帶你去看！

In the past, there were about 70 households growing straw mushrooms, 早期這裡大約有七十戶的草菇農

but now there are only seven left. 現在只剩七戶

To boost the development of local industries, 為了推動社區產業發展

straw mushroom farmers work together with the community. 草菇農和社區合作共同發展社區產業

This is a grow room for straw mushrooms. 這裡就是草菇寮

It looks like a greenhouse from the outside. 外觀看起來很像溫室

The white stuff in the front yard is cotton. 放在空地前面的這些白色的東西是棉花

This is what we use to grow straw mushrooms. 這是用來種植草菇的材料

The cotton is first placed in the yard for fermentation for seven days. 首先要先將棉花放在戶外發酵七天

Afterwards, it is moved to the greenhouse for two days 再送進溫室放置二天

for high temperature sterilization. 進行高溫殺菌

This is the heating equipment. 這個是加溫設備

It's similar to a steam engine 他的構造原理跟蒸汽火車類似

and uses high temperature steam to destroy bacteria. 運用蒸汽來做高溫殺菌

The temperatures of the air and substrates are monitored during the process. 空氣溫度和菇床的溫度都全程監控

The temperatures of the two have to be maintained at 65°C. 必須維持在65度

The temperature of the substrates has to be maintained for 6hrs, 菇床的溫度要維持6小時

and 8 to 9 hours for temperature of the air. 空氣的溫度則要維持8~9小時

After sterilization, fungi will be planted on the cooled substrates. 殺菌完成後需要等到降溫後才能撒菌母

On the shelf, we see 這個架子上鋪放的就是

cotton that has undergone fermentation and sterilization. 經過發酵跟高溫殺菌的棉花

The cotton consists of two layers: 棉花分成兩層

the bottom one is an old substrate used to grow mushroom before, 下層是栽培過草菇的廢床

and the top one is a new substrate used to grow mushroom this time. 上層則是栽培草菇的菇床

Fertilizers will be filled between the two layers. 兩層的中間放置肥料

We're going to harvest straw mushrooms now. 現在來採收草菇

Those with the size of our thumbs are ready for harvesting. 大概像大拇指大的就可以採收了

Straw mushrooms grow rapidly 草菇生長的速度非常快

and have to be harvested both in the morning and the afternoon, 所以早上和下午都要採收

or they may be overgrown. 不然就會開花喔！

After harvesting the straw mushrooms, we definitely have to try some. 採收了草菇怎能不品嚐一下呢

Mr. Wei, aren't we going to eat the mushrooms? 魏先生,你不是要帶我去吃草菇

Why did we come to the church? 怎麼跑來教堂呢？

Don't worry. The straw mushrooms are right behind the church! 沒錯，草菇就藏在教堂後面喔！

This place is also a part of the community tour. 這裡也是我們社區小旅行的一部分喔

This church is octagonal. It's a special feature. 你看這個教堂是八角型的非常有特色

On the yard next to the church are the Fourteen Stations of the Cross, 而且旁邊的空地還有十四苦行

depicting the sufferings Jesus had been through. 記錄了耶穌受難的故事

As time went by, Guoyi Catholic Church was unused. 果毅天主堂空間閒置後

Therefore, the community launched a renovation project 社區幫教會維修整理這個地方

so that tourists could come visit the church again. 讓大家可以繼續來這裡參觀

In return, the church agreed to lend the space at the back for free 教會也同意無償讓社區使用教會後面的空間

to the community for local product sales. 做社區的產銷中心

Katie, these are the straw mushrooms. Katie,草菇就在這裡

Come and have one! 來吃吃看！

Wow! Cool! It's a dried straw mushroom! 喔！好酷喔！這是草菇乾！

Wow! It tastes like a cookie! 哇！這個吃起來好像餅乾喔！

It's like salted cookies with good seasonings. 像是鹹餅乾一樣調味非常剛好

It's crispy and delicious. I'm going to have another one. 非常酥脆  重點是很順口 吃了還想再吃

In addition to straw mushrooms, people grow pineapples here, too! 這裡除了草菇以外還有種鳳梨喔！

The pineapples are really sweet, 鳳梨真的非常甜！

and you don't need to add extra sugar to the dried pineapples! 甜到做鳳梨乾都不需要加糖！

The dried pineapples are made of thick pineapple slices. 而且是很厚的鳳梨切片做成的

Very generous. How I wish if there's a group buying deal! 非常豪邁  好想團購啊！

There are many historical buildings around the community! 社區的附近還有歷史建築喔!

I heard that the tomb of Chen Yong-hua is at this place. 聽說陳永華的古墓在這裡

Can we go take a look? 你可以帶我去看嗎？

Let me take you there! 走我帶你去！

There are 3D paintings of the Four Auspicious Beasts in his tomb! 在陳永華的古墓前有四聖獸的3D彩繪喔！

Legend has it that Chen made an appearance in front of a woman 相傳陳永華顯靈告訴一位小姐

and requested her father to help renovate his tomb. 請小姐的父親幫他修墓

After that, the tomb was enlarged to the size it is today. 於是古墓才有現在的規模

The tomb is now managed and maintained by the community. 現在是由社區來維護管理

Wow! This is so cool! 哇！這也太酷了吧！

Chen Yong-hua made a lot of contributions to people in Tainan. 陳永華對臺南人來說非常有貢獻

He's worth paying tribute to! 值得來追思一下！

Next, let's visit Wu Jin Huai Memorial Hall with David. 接下來跟David去參觀吳晉淮音樂紀念館

Hey, David here. 嗨！我是David

This is the famous Wu Jin-huai Residence in Liouying. 這裡是知名的柳營吳晉淮住宅

Who's Wu Jin-huai? 吳晉淮是誰呢？

Wu Jin-huai is actually a famous Taiwanese singer-songwriter. 他是一位臺灣知名的作曲家及歌手

Although he passed away in 1991, 雖然吳晉淮已於民國80年過世

people still sing and play his music to this day. 但他的歌曲仍然傳唱至今

If you pay close attention to the building, 仔細觀觀察這棟建築的話

you'll find many intricate details. 可以發現許多非常精緻的設計

In fact, this building was built in 1931, 這棟建築建於民國42年

using the combination of Japanese 融合日式及

and Taiwanese building techniques. 台式建築工法

While no one lives here anymore, 雖然這裡已經無人居住

this place has become a memorial to Mr. Wu Jin-huai 但卻成為緬懷吳晉淮先生

and by extension, his music. 及其音樂的紀念館

In its hallway, you can find items such as 走廊上可以看到許多展示物品

his old guitars, his notes, and even household items. 例如吳晉淮先生的舊吉他、手稿，以及日常用品

If you want to listen to some of 如果想要聽聽

Mr. Wu Jin-huai's classic music, 吳晉淮先生的經典作品

simply pull out one of these drawers. 只要拉開抽屜就能聽見

Isn't that cool? 真的太酷了

That song was the Kuan-á-niá-tsi-luân, 這首歌叫「關仔嶺之戀」

which means love in Guanziling. 就是關仔嶺戀愛故事的意思

That's one of Mr. Wu Jin-huai's most iconic songs. 是吳晉淮先生最具代表性的作品

It was written in 1957, 歌曲創作於民國48年

and people are still singing it to this day. 直到今日都還有人在演唱這首歌曲

I can't actually play. 我其實不會打鼓

I'm just pretending. 只是裝模作樣一下

But that's not too bad, right? 但應該打得還不錯對吧？

In old, traditional Taiwanese houses like this one, 傳統的臺灣建築都像這間一樣

all the rooms are connected by doors. 室內房間彼此相連，中間有門隔開

If you're into traditional Taiwanese architecture, 如果對臺灣傳統建築有興趣的話

here you can actually find an interactive map for this area. 這裡還有互動式地圖可以一覽周遭建築

In this room, you can listen to 這間房間裡可以聽到

some of Mr. Wu Jin-huai's famous tracks. 吳晉淮最膾炙人口的作品

There's actually his personal guitar in the cabinet. 展示櫃裡則收藏著他的吉他

Walking down the corridor of Mr. Wu Jin-huai's residence, 走在吳晉淮故居的長廊上

you can't help but feel nostalgic, 讓人不由自主開始懷舊

and I guess this is especially true for your parents' 我覺得特別是我們的父母

or even grandparents' generation, 祖父母那一輩的人更是如此

as they were brought up to listening to 因為他們從小

Mr. Wu Jin-huai's music. 就聽吳晉淮的歌曲長大

Even if you're not into music, 即使你不是音樂迷的話

this place is still worth your time. 還是可以來這裡走走

It's such a rare opportunity to be able to see 因為現在很少有機會

a well-preserved traditional Taiwanese house. 可以看到保存如此完善的傳統臺灣建築

And it's not just the house. 不只是建物本身

It's everything. 這裡的一景一物都非常珍貴

It's the stools, the tiles, the floor, the ceiling. 例如板凳、磚瓦、地板、天花板等等都是

So next time you come to Liouying, 下次來到柳營的時候

be sure to come to Mr. Wu Jin-huai's memorial. 別忘了來參觀吳晉淮音樂紀念館

After the musical memorial, now let's go check out the king boats. 逛完了音樂館，接下來跟我去找臺南內陸的王船

Why are there king boats in Liouying? 柳營為什麼會有王船呢？

Let me ask someone! 跟我去了解一下！

Mr. Zheng , I was very curious about this. 鄭先生，有一件事我很好奇

I heard that the king boats in Anding actually came from here, 我聽說安定的王船是來自柳營這裡

and that even though the Daitian Temple is just 50 years old, 但是代天院建立至今五十年

the King Boat Festival has been held for more than 100 years. 但是王船祭已經有一百多年的歷史了

Can you tell us the whole story? 可以說明一下是什麼緣故？

The Daitian Temple at Liouying 柳營代天院

has been worshipping Marshal Yu for over 300 years. 供奉代天巡狩 遊王公 已經有三百多年

King boats in early days did set off from Liouying. 早期的王船確實是從我們這裡放流的

According to historical records, the Government of Taiwan 根據文獻  臺灣總督府在1915年

published a religion analysis report in 1915. 有做一份宗教調查報告書

The report stated clearly that Marshal Yu 內文清楚記載（主神：遊王公）

instructed people to build a temple only after they had a good life. 希望人民豐衣足食之後才來建廟

People in early Taiwanese society had a tough life, 由於臺灣早期民生艱苦

so Liouying hadn't had any temple 民國六十年以前柳營地區沒有廟宇

until 1970s. 一直到民國六十年才建廟

Before temples were built, local residents formed Shenminghui 還沒建廟之前採用類似神明會的方式

and worshipped deities at home. 供奉在民宅裡

Every three years, worshippers will decide who the new Lotsu is 三年一次信徒集聚用擲筊的方式

by throwing divination blocks (bwa bwei). 產生新的爐主

A Lotsu is responsible for worshipping rituals every day. 由爐主負責早晚的祭祀

Wow! This is really special. 哇！這真的很特別

Tainan boasts the most temples in Taiwan, 臺南應該是廟宇最多的地方

and it's hard to imagine Liouying didn't have any temple until the 70s. 沒想到民國六十年之後柳營才出現第一間廟

In Liouying, the offering ritual of the king boat is called “wangjiao.” 在柳營這裡的王船祭祀稱為「王醮」

Why did king boats set off from an inland town like Liouying? 為什麼柳營是內陸會有王船放流這件事

We have to understand the change in the terrain here. 主要是地形地貌變化的關係

What is now Tiexian Village was a harbor in the past. 早期柳營西邊的鐵線橋（現鐵線里）是一個港口

The harbor was next to the Daofeng Inner Sea. 旁邊就是倒風內海

After the Daofeng Inner Sea disappeared, 隨著倒風內海消失

the King Boat Festival took place in the front yard of the temple. 現在燒王船則改為在廟前的廣場進行

One thing special about Liouying Daitian Temple is that 柳營代天院還有一個很大的特色就是

the temple doesn't close its main doors in the ghost month. 農曆七月不關大門

The paintings of the Door God on the doors are well-preserved. 也因此彩繪門神保存得非常好

In addition to paintings from Mr. Huang Qi-shou, 除了黃啟受老師的門神外

artworks of Mr. Tsai Cao-ju and Mr. Liao Qing-zhang are also available. 在這裡還可以看到蔡草如老師和廖慶章老師的作品

In addition, the ceramic collages here are also very special. 剪黏也非常精彩喔

Remember to come here if you're a fan of traditional artworks! 喜歡傳統工藝的朋友千萬不要錯過！

There's a less known local restaurant in Liouying. 在柳營有一間隱藏版美食非常有名

The restaurant doesn't even have advertisement board. 他沒有招牌喔

But still, a lot of people come here for the delicious dishes. 但是還是吸引非常多的饕客前來

Wow! The meat is juicy and well-flavored. 喔～這肉好多汁啊而且很入味

I thought poached chicken would be bland, 我本來以為白斬雞應該比較沒有味道

but the one here tastes really good. 但是這裡的非常好吃

There are a lots of homemade dishes here. 這裡還有很多家常菜
