Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Verb Phrase 94. The verb phrase today is
lag behind. So you lag behind someone or you lag behind something. All right. Let's
take a look at the note here. If someone or something lags behind , he or she makes
less progress or is less successful in comparison to others. All right. So that's
one meaning. That's one way we use it or we could mean more physically. To move
more slowly than other people or things. You could lag behind as well. All right. So
let's look at the first example here. Your son is lagging behind the other
students in his class. Meaning his grades are not as as good. He's not performing
as well. He's not learning as much. He's lagging behind the class. All right. Let's
look at number two. Our sales are lagging behind last year's totals. So we're not
doing as well as we would at the same time last year or the same season. Okay
or number three. Here, I was too exhausted from going out the night before. I lagged
behind my friends when we were hiking up the mountain. So maybe you're just like (gasping noises )
Falling behind staying behind them. So you could be physically lagging behind
you know, it could be this way like in a bike ride or anything like that. Okay.
Anyway, I hope you got it hope it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
