The proverb basically means that sometimes the most enjoyable or satisfying experiences in life do not cost any money. It can also be used to suggest the price of something may not suggest its true value. Sometimes we say that too. Like if we think somebody's going to spend too much money for something and say hey you don't have to do that the best things in life are free anyway. That's the way somebody might use it. But anyway, let's look at several examples we have here. How his proverb might be used. And they're all a/b parts. Here's number one. So A says she often just likes to reminisce about the old times and laugh. And B says, well I guess it's true. The best things in life are free. So this would be one way we would use it or number two. The highlight of her day is when her daughter comes to visit her in the old age home. So just seeing her daughter doesn't really have anything to do with money. You know, it probably doesn't cost her daughter much. Maybe just the transportation to the old-age home. So but it makes her mother happy. And B would go and say well it just goes to show the best things in life are free. So that's the way we would answer that. Or number three here. There is nothing like a good hike up the mountain, experiencing nature and breathing in the fresh air. Yeah. Usually you don't have to pay for this. You can hike up a mountain for free in most cases. And B says that's right and it doesn't cost a cent. It means that doesn't it cost any money at all. The best things in life are free. Okay. Now sometimes I've also heard this used kind of in a sarcastic way and I do remember one song that actually used it in a sarcastic way. So let's ,let's look back here. So we say on another note. You know, because this is a little different. There was a band called " the Flying Lizards " who had a big hit with a song called "Money. " They used this proverb in their chorus you know , so they repeated it a number of times throughout the song. And they repeated kind of it out like a monotone or monotonous sort of a way. Where or a monotone way. That's what I wanted to say. Where they said it in a very straight way. But anyway this is how it went " The best things in life are free, but you can give them to the birds and bees. I want money." That's what they said. "That's what I want. Your love gives me such a thrill. But your love won't pay the bills. " But anyway she was repeating this proverb throughout it and of course she's using it kind of in an opposite way. But anyway, you could say there is a lot of truth to this sometimes. Sometimes some of the best things in life you really don't don't actually cost you , direct money right away. Okay anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it was clear. I hope it was enjoyable. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
