Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 92. The noun phrase today is
impulse buying. Yeah. Remember if you have an impulse it's kind of like just an
automatic reaction that happens that makes you want to do something. So
impulse buying is you just buy something on impulse. We could say that too. You say
that way somebody bought something on impulse, as well as impulse buying. All
right. Let's continue with the note here. Impulse buying is when a person buys
something on a whim . A whim means you know, you just feel like it. Yeah. Why not ? Sure
let's get it. You know you see it. Oh that looks good prices right. Yeah. I'll get it.
Kind of like that. So on a whim , upon seeing upon seeing it. You know for the
first time, there was no previous plans. There was no plan beforetime or thought
of the purchase beforetime or beforehand. Yeah. So you just bought it on
a whim. You maybe .... especially street vendors because a lot of times you don't
even know if they're going to show up or if they do show up they could be you
know sometimes they go around to different areas. You know because maybe
they could do more business that way. And just out of nowhere. Look at the street
vendor. They got something interesting there. It caught your eye you walked over to it.
It looked good . You kind of felt like it and price was right. Why not ? Let's buy it.
So impulse buying. You buy it right away . So we definitely use it with street vendors.
Buying from street vendors a lot . The second one here. Many stores try to set up
attractive displays to encourage impulse buying. Yeah. That's the main reason. The
display itself might encourage somebody to buy it. Before they went to that store
that day, they might have had some idea in mind to buy some other things but
maybe not this thing. This thing with the display was so attractive, it made them
want to buy it. So they bought it on impulse. Okay. Great. I hope you got it. I
hope it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
