Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Lesson 315.
All right. The title of today's lesson is "Don't Say You Have More Than One
Personality. Yeah. In the past, sometimes I've seen some students actually say
this and a lot of students of ESL you know, English as a Second Language. If
they say they don't realize it. It makes you sound a little crazy. If you say that
you have more than one personality because most people have just one
personality. So let's look at the note here. If someone has more than one
personality, it means that he or she has a serious mental problem. It means that a
doctor has diagnosed somebody with multiple personality disorder. Okay. That
would mean that that person has two or more distinct identities that could
claim to be in the same body. You know, sometimes under stress or you
know in certain situations a different personality may come out and we've seen
this sometimes in some movies. It's very interesting. Luckily it's very rare, but
it does exist. So you don't want to say that. All right. Let's continue here. If a
student makes this mistake he should be saying and he has different traits or
characteristics or attributes in his personality. That's what he wants to say
you know , maybe you have different qualities in your personality. Most of
the time when you describe a lot of adjectives about your personality those
are the different traits. So but you don't want to see your worth of one
personality. So let's look at some examples here. You know, the first one
with the X. This would be wrong. You say his personalities are very unique. No. You
definitely won't say that because again unless you really truly mean that
somebody has multiple personality disorder you should not be saying that.
His personality is very unique. Of course you could say that. Or you could say he
has some very unique personality traits. That's the way you would say it. Or again
you don't want to say it about yourself too, Again you might be insulting yourself.
Maybe you know a westerner of course would catch this one right away anyway. I
hope you got it. I hope it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye
