Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 47. The noun phrase today is death
trap. Okay. Let's take a look the note here. A death trap can refer to a place or
vehicle that is in such bad condition one fears that it could collapse , cause
an accident or somehow lead to one's death. Okay. Let's take a look. That's what we mean.
by death trap. You feel like you might get trapped inside of it, and that could
somehow cause you to die. So let's look at example number one. That building
would not pass any Fire Department inspections. All their emergency exits
are blocked. If a fire ever broke out. Remember if it breaks out it means suddenly
start. You would be in serious trouble. I wouldn't want to live there. It looks
like a real death trap. All right. This is a perfect example. We often say
someplace or possibly like they say possibly a vehicle , it could be a death trap.
All right and let's look at number two. Number two is about a vehicle. Jack
should bring that car to a junkyard. It is in such bad condition. I wouldn't be
surprised if the engine caught on fire or the brakes stopped working while
riding in it. You are taking your life in your hands. Meaning you're taking a
chance with your life. You're risking your life. If he gives you a ride
it is a real death trap. Okay, good. So these two are very good examples for
death trap. Okay. Anyway , I hope you got it. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for your
time. Bye-bye.
