  • Pourciau we're at top velocity in the headquarters Louisiana and have a small

  • and we're gonna talk about today 3x pitching what is triple extension how

  • these guys can use it to get better increase our velocity and just break it

  • down for us cool so triple extension simple

  • extension of your ankle knee and hip flexor and what that does on the drive

  • leg the only leg on the ground most of your delivery that is going to allow us

  • to create more ground force or energy from the ground and ultimately that's

  • how we put energy in our bodies the best is through the ground how we push off

  • the ground so we're gonna teach you how that works and at the end of the day

  • it's it's just trying to get as much extension out it and push or drive out

  • as you can it's just knowing the right time and that's where a lot of coaches

  • get frustrated when they see guys trying to drive or push they're typically doing

  • it the wrong times and then they're getting even worse results right you see

  • a guy like trying to drive really early and they start jumping even though we've

  • seen pitchers and do that with success it's still really really hard to go and

  • allow that to happen early and get a lot of success out of it the other thing is

  • that the timings too late if I land and then I'm trying to drive it's too late

  • because we know when a front foot lands on a high velocity pitcher you have

  • about 0.1 0.2 seconds to release the ball which is close to the blink of the

  • eye so you don't really have a lot of time so if I'm too late extending then

  • I've more likely already release the ball but like you said we're coaches get

  • frustrated they're is they're trying to push in the front foot strike and it's

  • causing them to fly open even more so the timing is just so important when you

  • do it and where is the timing and I say it's a short window I always used to say

  • the window is about from here to there when your front foot is about right here

  • about to land that's the time that you have to drive that off just before you

  • land for it to work so it's right before I land boom I Drive it off now there's a

  • lot of intricacies to how you drive and ultimately it goes through when you're

  • trying to get triple extension you have to first get triple flexion

  • right just like the arm if I want to if I'm going to extend the arm I'm gonna

  • I'm gonna have it flexed and that's what creates extension specifically when I'm

  • pushing so I really can't push until I get some flexion so that's what we're

  • doing here we're gonna lift and we do what we call forward and down the same

  • rate with the hip and then just before I land we're gonna be in triple flexion

  • and then we're gonna go in triple extension and the front foot strike some

  • of the more specific things that you have to learn is the the force vector

  • what is the force vector that's the ankle to knee

  • if this shin wherever it's pointing when I push force that's where the energy

  • goes so if it's pointing up and I push force I go up if it's pointing linear or

  • like a sprinter like this when I push force it goes forward so as a pitcher

  • that's what I want I want the energy going through my hip carrying me to the

  • target I don't want it going up jumping off the ground so just like we said

  • forward and down the same rate I'm going into triple flexion and I'm allowing

  • that force vector to get linear I always say somewhere pointing to the front hip

  • is the time that I can now drive and hopefully we're still close and that's

  • then when we open and we triple extend and a lot of guys to confuse triple

  • extension they think this is triple extension that's just really stink

  • extension of the ankle and knee triple extension has a rotational component to

  • it right before you land you have to open and what that does is it exposes

  • the hip so when I go to fully extend now I can get into that hip extension which

  • means I'm driving good hip rotation which is the lower half that's how it

  • when it coach says you need to use your lower half that's how you need to learn

  • how to use your lower half if you do that correctly you're gonna put yourself

  • in a better spot to have better hip to shoulder separation which we'll talk

  • about in other videos one analogy I like to use for this and you talked about

  • guys who jump off and or guys who kind of fall off one analogy I like to use is

  • like a car if you're in a race car and you slam on the gas you're gonna spin

  • out right so that's like the guys who jump off of there and if you just go

  • really slow obviously you're gonna throw really slow and you're gonna start

  • really slow in your car you got to find that perfect spot

  • how much gas are you gonna put in that car to not peel out but go as

  • fast as you possibly can right and you know people always say cuz this is what

  • you know before I got into coaching all we knew was dropping Drive stand tall

  • and fall right what drop and drive or stand tall and fall and people always

  • would come in to me and be like what is this and I said it's it's it's neither

  • and that's why I called it 3x pitching because I actually wanted to put a name

  • of a method out there for people to learn and not just here drop and drive

  • stand upon fall this is the best of both this is falling forward and out the same

  • rate so I can flex and load and get linear and then I can drive so it's

  • really technically a combination of drop and drive and stands on fall as one and

  • I believe in a better method and one of the key components to your pitching

  • program and it's one of the things we talked about in the for probably the

  • four most important things and we put all those four things into a video for
