Satoshi: So you are in Okinawa and you can't decide what to do, maybe we can help!
Shinichi: Hey guys, so we just got back from a one week visit to Okinawa
Shinichi: and we had such a blast.
Shinichi: Not only was there a lot of delicious foods to try out,
Shinichi: But there are many fun and exciting places to visit.
Shinichi: Now the hardest part of any holiday is deciding on what to do,
Shinichi: so we thought we could help you with this video.
Satoshi: Here's our list of the 10 things that you must do in Okinawa.
Shinichi: Number one is Kokusai Dori. This is the Busiest street in all of Okinawa,
Shinichi: and is a must visit for everyone.
Shinichi: This one mile street is lying with shops and restaurants on both sides,
Shinichi: of course there are many souvenir shops that sell pretty much the same things,
Shinichi: but, there are definitely some unique ones.
Shinichi: Also, just off Kokusai is Heiwa Dori or "P Street"
Shinichi: and this is where you can come for real bargain shopping with much cheaper items.
Shinichi: There are many unusual gift shops in this area,
Shinichi: so take your time and explore.
Shinichi: Number two is shopping.
Shinichi: Now, you cannot leave Okinawa without buying something.
Shinichi: And since we're already in shopping central, you might as well buy something to take home.
Shinichi: Some of my personal recommendations include the Kariyushi, which is Okinawa's version of an Aloha shirt,
Shinichi: Okinawan Glass, and their famous treats, such as the purple potato tarts,
Shinichi: and the traditional Chinsuko cookies.
Satoshi: Seriously, don't leave without buying these cookies.
Satoshi: They are so good.
Satoshi: Number three is Makishi Public Market, also known as the "Kitchen of the People".
Shinichi: Probably one of my favorite places in all of Okinawa.
Shinichi: This place lets you sample the culinary wonders that Okinawa has to offer.
Shinichi: The first floor sells everything edible like fresh seafood, vegetables, fruits and meat, as well as condiments.
Shinichi: We recommend buying some fresh seafood and having them prepare it at one of the restaurants upstairs.
Shinichi: This place is truly a must for anybody who loves food.
Satoshi: Number four is Yachimun Alleyway.
Shinichi: Just a 5-10 minute walk from the Makishi public market, brings you to this place.
Shinichi: This is a center of Okinawan pottery and has been for many years.
Shinichi: Several shops are on the main roads, but treasures can be found on the side roads that branch off the main alley
Shinichi: At the museum near the entrance, pick up a map that shows you where to find
Shinichi: ancient wells, pagodas, and kilns!
Shinichi: Also, on the side streets are hidden cafes and workshops.
Shinichi: Walking along the street you'll feel like you're walking through a rural village instead being in the center of a bustling city.
Shinichi: Which makes Yachimun Alleyway, a great place to chill.
Satoshi: Number five, Syuri Castle.
Shinichi: Now, Syuri Castle is one of the most beautiful and unique castles here in Japan,
Shinichi: it looks nothing like the castles that we're used to seeing,
Shinichi: but it's no wonder because this place used to be the palace for the Ryukyu Kingdom,
Shinichi: which was way before this country was part of Japan.
Shinichi: This place was also designated a world heritage site in December of the year 2000.
Shinichi: Architecturally, this place is stunning. Really recommend you come here, don't miss it.
Satoshi: Number six: you have to come to beach!
Shinichi: You really. do.
Shinichi: Now, if you're looking for the best beaches in Japan, look no further than Okinawa.
Shinichi: This is definitely where you're going to find the most beautiful beaches in the entire country.
Shinichi: Of course, you can take a ferry to one of the islands, but,
Shinichi: here in the mainland there are 130 recognized beaches to choose from!
Shinichi: So you're never really that far from a beach. Definitely visit a beach when you are here.
Satoshi: Number seven is Kaichu Doro.
Shinichi: One of the most beautiful drives on the island, the Kaichu Doro is an inter-island highway
Shinichi: that slices through the sea in a straight line that connects continent peninsula and Henza Island
Shinichi: Its construction is a combination of bridges and earth dredged up from the shallow sea bottom
Shinichi: and packed to form a road bed. Now, other places that you might want to visit
Shinichi: is the Ikei Beach located at the top of Ikei island
Shinichi: and from Henza island, the Hamahiga bridge allows you to access the Hamahiga island,
Shinichi: which is full of beauty and nature.
Shinichi: One of the most recognizable tourist destinations on Okinawa is Cape Manzamou.
Shinichi: Facing the East China Sea, its most distinguishing feature is its elephant trunk-like coral snout
Shinichi: Located in the northern part of the main island, it's also one of the best places
Shinichi: to view the Okinawan sunset.
Shinichi: Manzamou is located on top of a steep cliff with a height of about 20 meters.
Satoshi: I love sunset and this is my favorite place to view it. I recommend this place 100%.
Satoshi: Number nine: visit a seaside cafe.
Shinichi: Now, if you're in Okinawa, we mentioned it before, but you gotta come to the beach.
Shinichi: But you can also opt instead to come to an oceanside, or seaside cafe that OVERLOOKS a beach.
Shinichi: There are many of these cafes in Okinawa. Some of them are located right on the beach,
Shinichi: while others are built on top of a hill, giving you an incredible view.
Shinichi: It's relaxing and many of these places not only serve drinks,
Shinichi: it's one of the best ways to enjoy Okinawa.
Shinichi: Now, Okinawa's cuisine is very different from the mainland,
Shinichi: so if you come here, eating the local food is a must.
Shinichi: Even something as common as tempura is prepared differently here.
Shinichi: Some of our favorites include the Sata Andagi,
Shinichi: Goya Champuru,
Shinichi: and the Jimami Dofu.
Satoshi: If it's just one thing you do in Okinawa, EAT!
Shinichi: Now I know we said ten, but I wanted to include one more place.
Shinichi: It's totally off the tourist radar, but we think it's worth a visit.
Shinichi: This place made us understand a bit more about Okinawa's past,
Shinichi: and made us appreciate this beautiful place even more.
Shinichi: It also reminded us of how horrific war truly is, especially for the innocent,
Shinichi: and of the importance of keeping peace in the world.
Shinichi: For us, it was truly, a must visit.
Shinichi: And that's our top ten list for you.
Shinichi: If you've been here before, let us know some of your favorite places in the comments down below.
Shinichi: Who knows, maybe we'll be back again someday.
Satoshi: See you on our next video, bye bye!
