Today we'll look at how “get back to someone”

今日は“get back to someone”「あとで（後ほど）返事します」を見ていきましょう

Can help to buy you more time in difficult situations

もう少し時間が欲しいといった難しい状況に使いやすい表現です

“Get back to someone” means you will reply later

“get back to someone”とはあとで連絡、返事をするという意味です

This is useful when you cannot respond straightaway

すぐに返事ができない場合にとても役に立ちます

Such as when you're busy or asked a difficult question

忙しい時、または難しい質問をされた時などです

For example, imagine a customer requests a big discount

例を見てみましょう、お客様から割引を要求された時

You could say:

こういうことができます：

“Let me check with my boss and I'll get back to you about that”

「上のものに確認いたしますので、後ほどお返事いたします」

Notice the pattern “get back to someone about something”

文の形は「get back to 人 about 内容」になります

This phrase works in writing as well

この表現は書き言葉としても使うことができます

For instance, let's say your colleague messages you:

例えば、同僚から：

A: “Our supervisor is asking for an update”

A:「上司が最新の状況報告が欲しいといってるよ」とメッセージがあったとしましょう

You could reply:

あなたは：

B: “No problem. I'll get back to her later today.”

B:「了解です、今日後ほど彼女に連絡いたします」と返すことができます

Notice how the time is added after the phrase

フレーズの後に時間を付け加えたのに気づきましたか？

So now you know how to use “get back to someone”
