how to play "Eye of the Tiger" on drum-set

Hey Guys we're going to jump right into the

"Eye of the Tiger"

tutorial.

The first thing we're going to look at is

the cymbal choking section

So the way I like to put it --

I like to use the word rest in between the rest.

So you got

And actually you should choke all of those notes so...

Like that.

Use your hands.

Move your hand under the cymbal.

Press on top with the thumb.

And then put the bass with it.

And you have a complete cymbal choking sound.

So what I like to do again

put rest in between the parts where you are not playing.

And that one is going to be a little bit tricky

Because you go...

So its like...

It's hard to explain

So let me play that one more time slowly.

So hit.

so the whole thing together if I slow it down.

You got... hit.

And then you go into the beat

So the beat is the next part.

So our beat together sounds like this...

So let's break that down

First of all

my hi-hat

(Counting Eighth Notes)

That's always going

it continues throughout.

My bass drum is just on the beat.

As you can see my snare is on 2 and 4

(Counting the Rhythm)

So put these together...

Now with the hi-hat if you can

please accent on the beat so...

(Counting Eighth Notes)

Make sure you are accenting which means

which means put some emphasis on the beat

Also you notice I moved the beat over here?

The same thing applies so...

You want to accent the beat. It's the same exact beat.

All I'm doing is shifting from here to here.

So let me shift back and forth so you can see.

So now you can see how that goes.

The next thing I want to go over is a quick fill real quick.

It goes something like this...

So think "I am very cool."

Something like that. so if I play it...

I just slowed it down so you could see that.

That's pretty much all you need

to do this song.
