Hello this is Greg and I'm at the
University of Kansas Cancer Center and
this is what the 5 Second Rule is all about it is
chilly out here and you just make it
happen but going back to jun 2011 my
life changed my life changed right here
it actually changed right inside there I
was going through some follow ups at my
one I was one year cancer-free in June
of 2011 so I was going through
follow-ups continuous stuff you know
watching blood numbers going up and down
to find out now whether or not the
cancer looks like it might be coming
back or something but to be honest with
you my life kind of just hit a rut all
the things that I done in life all the
excitement and motivation everything
I've done in my life from the time I was
18 I talk about in my book all the way
through the military living my life
until BAM I get hit with cancer and
everything stopped but what cancer
allowed me the opportunity to do and
gave me more opportunity to come up with
excuses so when I got to the one year
mark I got thinking to myself is this
really what is left of me for life I'm
just fine I'm just okay everything is
alright and i thought no no no it
doesn't have to be that way so one day I
am I luck here I was surfing on my
computer wasn't this computer in 2011
but I was surfing on my computer waiting
for an appointment here and lo and
behold it was June fifteenth a Wednesday
to 13 and I know exactly what it was and
along comes this video from TEDx San
Francisco with Mel Robbins and Mel
Robbins comes rushing across the stage
grabs the audience talking about are you
fine are you sure you're really fine
because you know what you deserve a life
better than nap and she started talking
about the five-second rule and it
changed my life while I was sitting
there in that chair I applied for a
position in Germany right there one two
three didn't even take four and five I
applied for a job in Germany and said
you know what I'm going to do this I
just made a decision that for the rest
of my life everything I'm gonna do Mel
got me so fired up
about five second row I just kept going
and going I bought her book this this
book right here which is a great great
book stop saying you're fine i recommend
everybody read that so i went ahead July
thirty-first 2011 I flew to Germany
ended up staying here for five years had
I stayed here at the University of
Kansas cancer center waiting for my
positive follow ups for year 2 3 4 or 5
i'm not sure i don't know what happened
i just know that by going to europe and
on the weekends going to London in Paris
and Rome and Barcelona and traveling the
world my life changed five-second rule
