I think the idea of operating a computer -- the use of that verb, when we think about computing,
is going to disappear.
And so instead of us as people directing and operating a machine,
the machines all around us
embedded in our environment
will have the intelligence to understand our intentions,
and our needs, and will proactively serve those needs.
That's an ideal future that I think is at the heart of
organizations like the University of Michigan School of Information.
So, I really like this sort of rubric of
getting past the idea of operating a computer
and having computers instead proactively and intelligently serve our needs.
