On January 20, 1961,
John F. Kennedy became the 35th President
of the United States. Without question
his most famous speech, inspiring a
nation, was his inaugural address.
“My fellow Americans, ask not what your
country can do for you, ask what you can
do for your country!”
He was assassinated on November 22,
1963—after only
1,037 days as President.
And in closing his speech—a call to endurance
endurance for the American people from Romans 12:12.
“. . .year in and year out, ‘rejoicing in
hope, patient in tribulation’—a struggle
struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny,
poverty, disease and war itself!”
