I've had a lot of people ask me how I wash my hair in space,

宇宙でどうやって髪を洗っているのかと聞かれたことがあります。

and I thought I could show you how I do it.

と思い、その方法をお見せしようと思いました。

To get started, these are the things I need.

始めるには、これらのものが必要です。

A bag of warm water.

温かいお湯が入った袋。

A little no-rinse shampoo.

ちょっとしたノーリンスシャンプー。

A towel.

タオルです。

And my comb.

私の櫛も

What I like to do is start by, just, putting some hot water, squirting it onto my scalp.

私の好きなことは、お湯を入れて、頭皮にシュッシュッとかけることから始めます。

And I have a mirror here so I can kind of watch what I am doing.

ここには鏡があるから 自分が何をしているか見れるんだ

Sometimes the water gets away from you, and you try and catch as much as you can.

たまに水が逃げてしまうこともありますが、出来るだけ釣ろうとします。

And I just work the water up through to the ends of my hair.

髪の毛の毛先まで水を通すんだ

And I take my no-rinse shampoo.

そして、私はノーリンスのシャンプーを飲んでいます。

And squirt it also on the scalp,

そして、頭皮にも吹きかけます。

just a little bit,

ちょっとだけ。

and rub it in, again, gonna work it up to the ends.

擦り込むようにして、もう一度、端までやってみます。

And sometimes I'll actually take my comb to help work it all the way to the ends.

時には櫛を持って、毛先まで作業を手伝うこともあります。

And I like to take my towel while I have the shampoo, and there, just kind of ... work it.

シャンプーをしている間にタオルを取るのが好きで、そこでは、ただ......作業をしています。

Because without standing under running water, you kinda need to use the towel little bit to help get some of the dirt out.

流水の下に立たずに、汚れを取るためにタオルを少し使う必要があるからです。

I like to follow that by a little more water.

それをもう少し水増しでフォローするのが好きです。

It's called no-rinse shampoo but I think it's best of use a little water with it.

ノーリンスシャンプーと言われていますが、少量の水を一緒に使うのがベストだと思います。

Actually feels kind of squeaky clean right now.

実は、今、ちょっとキレイになったような気がするんだ。

Now I take the dry part of my towel.

今はタオルの乾いた部分を取っています。

We use towels for quite a while here.

ここではタオルをかなり長く使っています。

Since we have limited supplies,

在庫に限りがあるので

we use them wisely.

賢く使うんだ

There, I think that's pretty good, and now as my hair dries, as the water evaporates from my hair,

そこで、かなり良いと思うのですが、今は髪の毛が乾くと、髪の毛から水分が蒸発してきます。

it will become humidity in the air,

空気中の湿気になってしまいます。

and then our air-conditioning system will collect that in the condenser,

それを空調システムがコンデンサーに回収します。

and it won't be long and our water processing system will turn that into drinking water.

すぐに水処理システムが飲料水に変えてくれます

At the end I just do one final comb through to make sure there are no snarls and snags.

最後に最後の一回だけ、スナールやスナッグがないことを確認するために櫛を入れています。

And while it dries, I like to let it stay free.

そして、乾いている間は自由にさせておくのがいいですね。

I don't put it back in a ponytail while it's drying.

乾かしている間はポニーテールに戻さないようにしています。

And that is how I wash my hair in space on International Space Station.

そして、国際宇宙ステーションでの宇宙での髪の洗い方です。
