And we are at Kuramochi Strawberry Farms

そして「くらもち観光農園」に来ています

where we're going to be picking some fresh strawberries

いちご狩りをやってみて

and then we're going to be making some ichigo daifuku with them!

そして「いちご大福」を作ってみます！

Which is a Japanese treat!

「いちご大福」は和菓子の一つで

Which is fresh mochi, with a strawberry inside

フレッシュな餅の中にいちごが入っている、

It's super delicious, it's gonna be amazing!

めっちゃおいしい和菓子です！絶対に楽しい！

And today Natalia is helping us out with translation

今回はナタリアさんに通訳してもらう

One time I did ichigo-kari

and eat it from this way

Yeah they say that eating it that way is delicious

Kuramochi-san told me that

You can eat it like this by taking off the green part

and eating it from the top instead of from the bottom first

And he said that's a delicious way to eat them

However you can eat them however you like and that's fine as well

好きな食べ方で食べたら、 どれもおいしいと教えてくれました！

So they have two kinds of strawberries here

ここには2種類のいちごがあります

The ones on the lower level are called akihime

下の段にあるいちごは「あきひめ」と言い、

and these ones are called benihoppe

こちらは「紅ほっぺ」と言います

Apparently the lower level strawberries are slightly sweeter

下の段のいちごの方がわずかに甘いと思うけど

But they're all really delicious!

どれも本当においしいです！

They're both really sweet, the lower ones are sweeter

And something about the upper ones tastes like apples to me

I don't know why

So Kuramochi-san told us that the strawberries with the pink flowers

倉持さんによると、ピンク色の花のいちごは

which seem to be kind of rare, we've only seen a few plants

珍しい種類で、ここのビニールハウスで

in this greenhouse that have pink flowers

ピンク色の花を少ししか見かけていないけど

He told us that those are the most delicious ones

あれは一番おいしいいちごだと教えてくれました

So let's try them

This one is pretty small but I think we'll be able to tell the flavour still

they wouldn't become nicely shaped strawberries

The strawberries that are poorly shaped

are that way because they weren't properly pollinated

When this yellow part is properly pollinated

Since we're going to be making some strawberry daifuku later

We need to find some good strawberries

きれいないちごを見つけたいと思います

We made a pretty big one, and we want it to be kinda roundish

So that it'll look nice when it's covered in the mochi

It's time to start the mochi pounding

今から餅つきを始めます！

And this is where the mochi rice is gonna go

It's so good guys

This is so much better than regular rice

The hardest part is over, we're done the mochi pounding

一番大変な作業の餅つきが終わったので

and now we're gonna take the mochi and make our daifuku!

今からこの餅を使って大福を作る！

Get some water on your hands

お水をつけて

It's not as beautiful as the ones in the store

お店で売ってる大福ほどきれいじゃないけど

But it'll taste good!

絶対においしいです！

Not bad! It's pretty round.

悪くないでしょ？丸くできた

We have finished our daifuku!

いちご大福を作りました！

They're not as beautiful as the ones you see in the supermarket

お店で売ってるやつみたいに きれいにできていないけど

but the ingredients are the same, so they should be really good

全く同じ材料を使ったので味がおいしいと思います

This one we put kinako powder on, that is optional - it's totally up to you

一個きな粉をかけてみたけど、それはあなた次第

That's a powder made out of soybeans

「きな粉」は大豆から作られる粉です

It's really delicious, you see it in lots of Japanese desserts

すごくおいしくて、和菓子によく使われます

I'm gonna try that one first

これを食べてみる

Let's get my fingers a little wet because these are super sticky

その前、少し手を濡らすね！くっ付いちゃうから

Itadakimasu!

いただきます！

It's so chewy

もっちり！！

The mochi is still warm

そしてお持ちはまだ温かくて

It's really hard to talk with it in my mouth

これを食べながら中々話せないね

The fresh, sweet strawberries in the middle

真中に甘くて新鮮ないちごが入っているので

are such a good balance to the simple taste of the mochi

シンプルな餅とのバランスが絶妙！

and the kinako powder actually gives it a slight salty taste which is nice!

そしてきな粉をかけることで少し味が変わる
