So, thanks for getting 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne here. >> That was- >> Yeah. [APPLAUSE] >> historic. Man, thank them, I know they just went back stage, but man, those are two of my biggest role models and Wayne came through for me today and he's so strong and I just wanna say shout out to them. Man, I'm really shaking, that was just crazy. >> Yeah it was amazing. You could feel the energy in here. It was awesome but no one's gonna get any work done. I don't know what kind of- >> [LAUGH] >> That's kinda representative of the fact that you haven't signed with a label. >> Yeah. >> And it's amazing, you're 23, you're one of the hottest rappers. You could sign anywhere you want, and you're saying no, I'm not gonna sign. And tell everyone why that is. >> Yeah, I'm just trying to be an example for all the young artists that are becoming artists every day and working on their craft, and I'm trying to help them avoid the pitfalls of the upper management in music and the non-music side of music, and when it's in your hands you just, you're self-motivated, and have all the tools that are there. So I just want people to avoid the comment. >> At 23. So- >> [APPLAUSE] >> I mean, most 23 year olds would be so thrilled to sign anywhere and, of course, want to sell their music, and you just give your music away for free. You don't ever charge, you give all of your music away. >> Yeah. >> So you just make your money on merch, right? >> Yeah. So I mean, merch, merchandise and touring has been the thing that has kept me and my girl and my daughter afloat. You know what I'm saying? >> [APPLAUSE] >> And it's a big thing. >> We saw each other at the President's birthday party. And I walked up to Chance, and I was like, you've gotta be on the show. You've gotta be on the show. And so I'm so thrilled because I'm just a fan and you're amazing. >> You're amazing, and that means so much that you actually did bring me on the show, because when you said that, we were at a White House party and I don't get invited to White House parties, but I was in it. I was reveling in it, I was drunk and like, I couldn't remember. >> [LAUGH] [APPLAUSE] >> When you said that to me, I was telling stories, like yeah man, Ellen, she said she was gonna have me on the show, and I was like, did she say that or was that? >> [LAUGH] >> So, funny story actually. My dad used to work for President Obama. And when he very first started working at the White House and prior to that, when he was in the Senate, and I met him once before and told him when I was like 13 or 14 that I was a rapper and he was like, yeah, word, cool. >> [LAUGH] >> But he's been, you guys have the picture. >> Yeah. >> [LAUGH] >> That's it. It's behind me, too. Dope. >> [LAUGH] >> So, that's me when I was telling him that I was a rapper. We used to have a similar haircut. >> Yeah, you've both changed a lot since then. >> Changed a lot since then, right? >> Yeah. >> Well, you certainly did prove good on that. I have some idea for merch and it's this shirt that you can sell. >> Chance the Rapper. This is amazing. [LAUGH] I do. >> Yeah, you can sell that. [APPLAUSE]
