  • We all need care and companionship, not least when we grow older. At Avery Healthcare we

  • have a philosophy of care and an approach that we’d like to share with you.

  • Let’s show you around some of our homes so you can see first-hand just how seriously

  • we take our commitment to delivering the highest possible standards of living for all our residents.

  • Our well-appointed care homes, their award winning designs, luxury interiors and landscaped

  • gardens, support vibrant, caring communities that give our residents and their loved ones,

  • comfort, security and peace of mind but we also understand that real quality of living

  • can only come from the support and companionship of others.

  • One of the most rewarding jobs I have ever worked in because it’s like you say when

  • you have a mother, nan or grandmother, when they are home you want them to be treated

  • well, you want them to have a really good quality of life.

  • Thriving, caring communities, a place to call home, to make new friends, learn and share

  • with others

  • We understand that change can sometimes be a challenge for the elderly, and we work hard

  • to settle all our residents into home life as quickly as possible. We also appreciate

  • that friends and family are very much part of what it is to deliver the best in care,

  • and we welcome the contributions of our families through our various committees.

  • Weve seen first-hand the role that web based communications can play in keeping residents

  • and family connected, and weve always believed that daily and varied recreational activities

  • can be as much therapeutic, as they are fun and engaging

  • We paint, we do collage, we do needlecraft, we make basic jewellery, we go out, we have

  • pub lunches we go out for tea and cakes to the local garden centres and parks, and obviously

  • the beach is only 15 minutes away.

  • We are also excited by the potential of the web to keep family and friends fully updated

  • with the activities and progress within our homes, an area we are develoing as technology

  • allows.

  • This is our cinema room, this allows us to use, we can hook the projector up to a DVD

  • player, Wii Consoles, X-box, Connect and also the internet. We also do Skype here, and that

  • allows us to re-unite families, youve got the web cams so that they can see each other

  • as they are talking, we had it where one lady got to see her granddaughters wedding which

  • was nice.

  • A varied programme of daily activities keeps all our residents fully active, and engaged

  • with the world around them, and their own life stories.

  • Some of them where saying that their grandfathers or fathers or their sons where miners, the

  • gentleman there himself used to work in a mine. So it gets them remembering things and

  • just keeps their brains active.

  • We like to get out, and very much view our homes as being embedded within their local

  • communities.

  • We would like to present this cheque to you on behalf of Acacia Lodge, thank you very

  • much indeed, on behalf of Guide Dogs for the Blind we very much appreciate the effort that

  • has been made.

  • Self-expression is important too. We encourage all our residents to dress their rooms with

  • personal effects.

  • Dinning brings us all together in a communal atmosphere that is so important to the social

  • fabric of the home

  • I like the curries, I love the soup, had some nice fish today a big variety of food and

  • beautifully served in a lovely dinning room

  • A choice of nutrionally balanced traditional meals are provided throughout the day and

  • particular requirements, or preferences are always catered for.

  • The staff are wonderful, they really look after us and I am diabetic

  • and they help me with my food and that, it’s just great.

  • Our chefs are always on hand, to delight us with freshly baked cakes and biscuits to complement

  • our traditional fare.

  • We use the local butchers in town, we have got a very good relationship with him, really

  • great meat, fantastic, we always do a Sunday roast. Today’s menu we had Chicken with

  • Tarragon, mushrooms and bacon, we had new potatoes roasted with Rosemary, and carrot

  • ribbons with green beans and bacon.

  • Our gardens provide the perfect backdrop to any summer evening; whether it’s taking

  • afternoon tea or enjoying an evening aperiteef, before diner

  • On special occasions, well celebrate with you and make a fuss with family and friends,

  • whether it’s an anniversary, a birthday or any other special event

  • Was it your birthday yesterday? Yes and it was magnificent, everyone was absolutely fantastic,

  • I couldn’t have been treated better anywhere.

  • Were always pleased to welcome guests, and our homes are always open to you. Why

  • not come and visit, and see for yourself what Avery living entails, or perhaps visit our

  • web site and view the videos we have there.

  • As our network of homes continues to grow, youre never too far from an Avery home.

  • You couldn’t wish for a better place anywhere, it’s just like a 5 star hotel.
