Today's good idea comes from LilKat.
Dear Angela, I'm going home for the holidays
to visit my parents whom I love very much. I own my own house,
I have a job that I love and I'm
financially independent. However my parents always make me feel bad because
I haven't lived up to their expectations of
having children, and I'm not married. What is your good idea for getting through
the holidays without my parents making me feel like a failure?
Hi LilKat, Gosh that's a really tough question.
You have to realize that you have a job you love,
you bought a house, and you are financially independent.
First of all those things are what parents wish for their children.
So I would say you're already successful. I would go home with your family I would
enjoy the holidays
and I would not worry about what they expect from you as far as getting
married and having kids.
Getting married and having kids is not for everyone.
You have to realize that in a perfect world kids would get parental approval.
That would be a perfect world. It's not a perfect world.
Parents will always have expectations
that we cannot live up to as kids, I'm sorry that's just the way it is.
There are seven billion people on the planet...
and if you don't get approval from 2 of them, no big whoop!
You know I mean? You're a good person you lived a good life,
you're financially independent, you're doing well for yourself,
you go girl! Go home and enjoy the holidays with your parents and don't
take it personally
let it go I'm telling you it's a good idea.
(Singing) It's a good idea.
