The ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi wrote:
knowing others is intelligence
knowing yourself is true wisdom
mastering others is strength
mastering yourself is true power.
So many people focus on other people’s body language and try to
read between the lines in order to find out what they really mean.
And they try to use psychological techniques and neurolingustic
programming to influence other people.
and all of that is well and fine it’s good because if you want to make a dent in the universe
if you want to make the world a better place if you want to help other people
you need to have some means to influence them
But if you want to be all you can be
if you make a change then you really need to start with the man in the mirror
And to take that inner journey can be frightening because you will lose your
illusions about yourself and you will discover things about yourself you wish you wouldn’t know.
But it will also set you free and give you greater power
because the monsters that hide inside your soul have greater power when you can’t see them
and the courage and nobility inside yourself are useless if you can’t find find them.
so remind yourself
every once in awhile
of that ancient quote by the chinese philosopher Lao Tzu
Knowing others is intelligence,
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
mastering others is strength,
mastering yourself is true power.
