Many of you guys want to come to Japan to explore the country, discover the history, eat some food!!!

多くの人が日本にくる目的は観光をしたり、 歴史を学んだり、食べ物を食べにくることだろう。

But some of you also want to come here to have like a business experience here

One of the best things about working in Japan is the cultural differences compared to more Western-like business culture

And what I find interesting is the Japanese expressions you use like almost every day at work that just...

...doesn't translate to English!

Today I picked up 3 of my favorite Japanese expressions

今回は3つの表現をピックアップしたよ。

The first sentence is "Otsukaresama desu"

まず、ひとつめは 「お疲れ様です。」だ。

This phrase actually has a looot of different meanings like:

この表現は本当にたくさんの意味がある。

"Thanks for your hard work", "cheers!"

そのままの意味で使われたり 「乾杯」という意味で使われたり。

You will hear it all the time

とにかく、毎回聞く。

When you walk by a colleague in the hallway..

廊下で同僚とすれ違うときも

You say it!

言うんだ。

When you enter the office

出社するときも、

You say it!

言うんだ。

When you leave the office

帰社するときも、

You say it!

言うんだ。

On the other hand in western countries its more casual like:

欧米だともっとカジュアルだよね。

Hi!

「ハイ！」

Or "hey!"

とか「ヘイ！」とか。

Or "Good Morning!"

「グッドモーニング」とか。

The second phrase you will hear every day is Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu

次の表現は 「よろしくお願いします。」だ。

This sentence is also like...it means....

この文章の意味は....

"I trust that you...eerrr....."

「あなたと働けることを楽しみにしてます。」 って感じなんだけど。

"Please treat me well... no"

でも日本ほど、こんな表現は 欧米では使わない。

It's kind of the equivalent of "I look forward to working with you"

使ったとしてもメールで1回言うくらいのレベル。 でも日本では

Although in English we don't use it as much as we use "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu" in Japanese

マジでずっと言うんだ。

I don't know, you say it like once in a meeting or in a mail, in Japan it's like...

3つめは「お世話になっております。」だ。

...every freakin' second!

これは日本ではクライアントとの 電話やメールでよく使われる。

The third and last one is "Osewa ni natteorimasu"

英語で直訳すると"Thank you for taking care of me" って感じかな。

This one you use at the beginning of every phone conversation or at the beginning of a mail with a client

でもこれは英語にすると ちょっとちんぷんかんぷんだ。

The meaning is "Thank you for taking care of me"

「もしもし？』

which in English would sound a little creepy

「Thank you for taking care of me」

Hello?
