Logan, an absolute pleasure to meet you.
Thank you very much, pleasure to meet you.
What happened back there. That's every day. Don't get too close to any one.
You see this right here? That is you heart line. You are going to have one great love
in your life.
As I was coming out the screening room, everyone was like, 'He was incredible!' Your name was
the one that was being mentioned the most.
Oh, cool.
When you got the phone call saying you'd got the role, how did you react?
There was about 10 seconds of joy and then after that it was- feel the weight of the
responsibility on my shoulders and I was pretty stressed out trying to- I was really inspired
but I just kept thinking about where I was gonna go with the role and what I was gonna
do with Norman and start the research and the whole process started, you know?
And a massive A-list cast, Brad Pitt, Shia, when you found out you were working with those
names, was that just totally overwhelming for you?
Yeah. I mean I wouldn't say it was totally overwhelming. I was just excited to collaborate
with them. I was always a big fan of all these guys.
In the film, you were like brothers, you were so close, was it like that on set? Did you
fool around but also you were really there for each other?
I wouldn't say- There was a little bit of fooling around but we were really there for
each other and we were very close. We spent a lot of time together. Got to know everything
about each other really.
They're coming.
How many?
300 of them.
The tank's busted.
We never run before, why we gonna run now?
I'm gonna hold the crossroad.
What are you doing?
It's my home.
I'm staying here with you.
First day on set, was there any good advice he gave you?
He didn't. I get that question a lot, most people don't go, 'Hey kid, here's some
advice for you.'
That's true.
Nobody does that. Usually kind of arrogant and cocky and that's not really Brad.
Brad's very respectful and humble and he looks at his cast members as collaborators and is really
just trying to collaborate on the material and make it good. I can't say I got advice
from him.
Now mentally and physically challenging role. Can you talk us through the military training
you went through. How tough was it?
It was pretty difficult. It wasn't easy. But, again, we're actors playing soldier so there
were moments where we were very immersed in this experience where we were physically exhausted
and sleep deprived and then I'm thinking, 'Wait, we're just- We're playing
soldier right now, this is not the real deal.' It's humbling to think about what
the real soldiers go through so I can't really complain about our experience.
What about emotionally preparing yourself for the role?
That was tough.
Throughout the whole thing, even your face, you look completely terrified the whole way
through. How did you emotionally prepare yourself? Was there any research you did? Any people
you spoke to?
There was a lot of things that I did. Some of the things I just can't really talk about,
to be honest. I don't even know how to creatively avoid it.
How does it feel being back in the UK where you filmed it?
I love it here.
Obviously in Oxfordshire last night.
Yeah.
How was it for? Do you love all the English grub, the English people?
I love the English people. This is one of my favourite places in the world. It almost
seemed like- I don't want to say wasted opportunity but we were so immersed in this movie that
we didn't get to enjoy the country as much because- London's one of my favourite cities
and I'm really interested in and fascinated in English culture, this is the first place
I ever went to outside of the country, was going to England. I was 16, it was where I
wanted to go. I have a great love for this place but whilst filming it was work, hotel
room to sleep, work, sleep, work sleep and that was it.
You've got to go back and have a good roast dinner in one of the lovely country pubs,
it's so nice.
I'll come back for vacation, when I'm not working and then I can really enjoy it.
Just one last thing, obviously a really tough role, has it been a really hard one to shake
off? Did you think it took quite a long time to get back to normal?
Emotionally, I was actually just happy to get out of the world. I was like, 'Thank
God this is over, I don't need to be here any more. It's been a pleasure working with
you guys, I'm out.'
Then partied afterwards.
Not even. I didn't even go for the party.
You're joking!
I'm not kidding. Literally, we rapped and I was like, 'I love you guys so much, this
was an amazing experience.' And I have a great love for everybody on the cast and crew but
I was like, 'I'm exhausted, I gotta go,'
Have you sent the odd text to Brad Pitt or anything?
Do we talk?
Yeah.
Yeah, sure. We all talk. We all talk, all the time
I love that. Well, can I just say, one of the best films I've seen this year and you
were absolutely incredible.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much, lovely to meet you. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
