Hi! I'm robo-Suzie and today I'll talk to you about Glycemic Index and Diabetes Criteria.
Also don't forget to check out the link below, to find out, how this guy reversed his diabetes!
Turns out, the diabetes industry is selling us fake research!
But back to our topic.
When it comes to diabetes the optimal diet should include a low glycemic index. The glycemic
index and diabetes criteria revolve around the fruit issue due to many fruits containing
a high glycemic index. The question here is, is it safe to consume fruit on a regular basis
if you are a diabetic and it a regular consumption of fruit good when you are trying to lose
weight.
Common fruits that do not have a high glycemic index and the index is within a safe index
range are kiwi 47, banana 51, grapefruit 25, oranges 31, papaya 56 and mango 41. However,
watermelon has a high index of 72. An interesting factor that scientists have now proved is
that the index is not that reliable when it comes to predicting the cause and effect food
has on blood glucose levels, insulin and cholesterol levels.
Diabetics need to be concerned about the glycemic index of certain foods that are otherwise
fiber and nutrient rich. For instance fiber that is present in nuts has far more significance
in blood sugar levels than does the glycemic index. Carbohydrates that are high glycemic
such as various grains, which belong to the glycemic index and diabetes index, are not
recommended by researchers. However, these types of carbohydrates will not elevate the
blood sugars if the grains are eaten whole and the overall content of the diet is low
fat.
Glucose intolerance and insulin insensitivity or resistance is linked to high glycemic foods
when eaten with a large amount of fat. High levels of insulin is secreted when there is
a lack of insulin receptors in the cell surface and this is caused by eating foods that are
high in saturated fats. A low insulin response is notable when carbohydrates are eaten which
do not contain fat and this includes fruits.
When diabetics follow a low glycemic index and diabetes diet this could cause further
problems due to eating more foods that have a high fat content, as this will cause the
body to produce more insulin due to the diabetic being insulin resistant. The index is not
extremely accurate, due to the fact that foods react differently from person to person, so
how can this index be accurate.
Vegetables and fruit have a relatively low index, but this is not important. Even foods
that have a high index, there has been no concrete evidence that these affect diabetes
or any sugar metabolic disorders when it comes to a low fat diet. There are several cultures
such as the Chinese that diets comprise of mainly high glycemic foods such as rice and
potatoes and there is zero percent incidence of diabetes due to their diet.
People that advise people especially diabetics to refrain from certain vegetables and fruit
due to the glycemic index and diabetes is definitely not a necessity. This is stopping
people from eating natural foods. Natural foods are healthier than refined foods no
matter their status on the index.
