We live by faith, not by sight. So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see. And without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards
those who seek Him. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith;
be men of courage; be strong. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because
you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
So that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is
by faith you stand firm. I have fought the good fight, I have finished
the race, I have kept the faith. For it is by grace you have been saved, through
faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope.
Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through
the word of Christ. For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.
