  • - Welcome back to What's Inside.

  • I'm Dan and today I am here on the beautiful island

  • of Guam.

  • This place is in the middle of the ocean.

  • If you don't know where it is, you're not alone.

  • I didn't know until I had to look on a map.

  • Halfway across the world from where I'm from.

  • Today I'm going to head out and see if I can find

  • some things to cut open here in Guam

  • that I can take back home to show Lincoln something unique

  • from Guam but then also to cut it open

  • and see what's inside of it.

  • K we're here in this little town called Manilow

  • and they have an open market every Wednesday night

  • and they have all kinds of stuff for sale, all kinds of food

  • so I thought this would be a great place to come to

  • to try to find something and we found something great.

  • We have coconuts, and these aren't regular coconuts,

  • these are older ones that have dried out.

  • And then they have this little girl that paints on them

  • and she paints Guam and then this white area is unique

  • because you can write an address on here

  • and then put some stamps on it and this will ship

  • in the US mail.

  • You can't take a coconut with you on the airplane,

  • but you can ship it for some reason.

  • I don't know why, but it's cool,

  • so I'm gonna buy one of these, ship it home,

  • and not tell the kids and wait 'til they just get

  • a random coconut in the mail and we'll cut this thing open.

  • It only took about a week and a half but we got our coconut

  • all the way from Guam to our home in the United States.

  • There's a lot of people that live in parts of the world

  • where coconuts are very common, but Lincoln,

  • have you ever seen a coconut opened before?

  • - I've never seen a coconut opened.

  • - Yeah, never seen one opened so I'd imagine

  • there's other people that haven't.

  • And this one's a little older.

  • It's not gonna be a fresh one.

  • It does look like there's a little hole drilled right there,

  • so I wonder if they drilled a hole to get some

  • of the liquid out of it.

  • Well let's get to the business.

  • (coconut hitting table) - Let's do this.

  • - Cut this thing open!

  • (electronic atmospheric music)

  • - Oh my.

  • (hammer banging)

  • We're so close.

  • - Time to break it open.

  • (coconut splitting)

  • (laughs)

  • There you go, there's some rotten coconut.

  • (laughs) That's what's inside. - [Lincoln] Yeah!

  • Ooh! Tastes nasty!

  • That stinks!

  • Ooh!

  • Rotten coconut! (laughs)

  • So if you look inside of the coconut,

  • you have the hard outer layer shell

  • and then you have this really soft thread-type material

  • and then you have this coconut layer right here.

  • This one's really nasty; in fact this ball of coconut

  • was rolling around in the other one, so crazy.

  • It stinks really bad.

  • And then usually, coconut milk is inside of here;

  • and so a lot of people will cut open the top,

  • cut a hole in it, put a straw in it,

  • and then they can just drink out of it.

  • All you Polynesian subscribers out there that are really

  • good at cutting open coconuts, sorry it was such

  • an American way of cutting open a coconut

  • with the rubber mallet

  • and whatever this tool is, a chisel thing.

  • Yeah I think this is actually a painting tool

  • (laughs) that I use. - [Lincoln] A painting tool?

  • - Yeah, but you know what?

  • There's a million ways to cut open a coconut,

  • and we just did one of 'em

  • that nobody has probably ever done before.

  • - Probably.

  • - That's what's inside of a disgusting coconut.

  • - Add rotten to the coconut part.

  • - That's what's inside of a rotten coconut from Guam.

  • But what do you expect?

  • I mean this thing was painted on, it was for display

  • in that little shop for who knows how long,

  • maybe months, maybe years.

  • Thanks so much for watching another global edition

  • of What's Inside.

  • We had a lot of fun.

  • This coconut came a long way and it was interesting.

  • So now next time hopefully someday we'll be able

  • to take a nice trip to Hawaii or somewhere beautiful

  • and we can have somebody cut open a fresh coconut

  • and Lincoln can smell the difference

  • and see what's inside of a--

  • - I think there'll be a slight delicious difference.

  • - Yeah.

  • If you like this video, go ahead and like it below.

  • Add some comments of other things you think

  • we should cut open and we appreciate you watching.

- Welcome back to What's Inside.
