Today's idiom is: rub someone the wrong way.
Rub someone the wrong way.
Alright, so rub, rub or rub, okay?
Let's imagine that we have a cat, alright?
And the cat is sitting on your lap and you're petting or rubbing the cat, right?
And when you rub the cat this way, he's happy and he's purring, happy cat, right?
If you rub the cat the wrong way, he's not happy anymore, right?
If you rub the cat this way, the wrong way, he gets really angry and jumps off, right?
He's not happy.
So, 'rub someone the wrong way'...
Let's listen to some examples and try to think of its meaning.
Did she rub you the wrong way? You seem to be mad at her.
Kind of. She said I look like I'm in my 40's, but I'm only 25!
Alright, so the girl told her she looks 40, but she's only 25, so it rubbed her the wrong way and she felt kind of not happy.

How are you getting along with people in your class?
Well, my classmate rubbed me the wrong way when she said she didn't have time to help me.
Alright, so she said she doesn't have time to help and that rubbed her the wrong way.
She didn't want to hear that.
She wanted help and the classmate said, 'Nope, sorry, no time.'
That's not nice, yeah?
Okay, so 'rubbing someone the wrong way' means to give a bad impression or to make someone feel bad about you, right?
If someone rubs you the wrong way, you feel, 'I don't know. I don't know about this person.'
They seem not nice or they seem strange or they make me angry, right?
They rub me the wrong way.
If someone rubs you the wrong way, you don't want to be friends, yeah?
You're going to avoid that person who rubs you the wrong way.
Alright, so let's try not to rub anyone the wrong way and be careful when we use idioms and other things
that we sound natural and not making someone angry at us and rubbing them the wrong way, alright?
